Final Fantasy is one of the most popular JRPGs of all time, so it should come as no surprise that the release of the fourth expansion pack for the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 - Endwalker - has fans already shelling out the gil.

During the 14-hour live stream last Friday, July 9, director and producer Naoki Yoshida discussed the finalization of the game’s scenario, and noted that voice recording is currently in progress and more.

However, one of the most telling pieces of information given was pertaining to preorder sales. According to Yoshida (and courtesy of an FF14 fan Discord via Reset Era), Final Fantasy 14 is currently seeing a whopping 160 percent increase for Endwalker, compared to its last installment, Shadowbringers. Since the game is not slated to release until November of this year, this number can only be expected to continue to rise.

One of the reasons for the increase could be attributed to the fact that Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will mark the end of the Zodiark-Hydaelyn arc, which began with Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn in 2013. You’ll continue your journey as the Warrior of the Light, battling foes, and traveling across the vast scope of Hydaelyn and its moon.

Final Fantasy Male Viera

Additionally, the much anticipated male Viera character creation - which is featured in the benchmark that was released today - may be a factor in the increase of sales. Twitter saw a rise of hashtags related to the hare-esque hunky heartthrobs, including #bunnyboys.

Final Fantasy 14 has been dominating the gaming news world as of late, with rumors of a Final Fantasy 14 Cookbook potentially being published by literary giants, Simon & Schuster, as well as Square currently running a campaign allowing you to play Final Fantasy 14 for free for up to two weeks. By participating in the new Twitch collaboration before August 24, you’ll still have time to grab the Fat Black Chocobo mount. There are also the new relic weapon quests to dive into as the game’s Save the Queen storyline comes to an end.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is currently available for presale for $59.99 and will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows, Mac and Steam on November 23, 2021.
