With patch 5.3 having dropped in August, Shadowbringers' story has come to a close. The Scions have finally returned to their world and even G'raha has joined them. So what is next for the MMO?

Players are all talking about what to expect for the next expansion. There are a lot of hopes and there are some fears as well. Right now, there are way more unknowns than there are facts about what's in store for the future of the Warrior of Light.

10 Hope: A New Healing Class

A lot of players were disappointed by the lack of a new healing class in Shadowbringers. They did get a new tank and DPS class, but now healers are the most scarce kind of player. So of course fans are hoping for at least one new healing class in the future. That way, there will be less wait times to cue into dungeons.

9 Fear: A New DPS Class

A new DPS class is definitely not needed. There are only four tank classes and three healers while the DPS classes are in the double digits.

To add even more DPS classes will make wait times for dungeons even longer as all the players pick up that class and create a lack of tanks & healers. This happened in Shadowbringers when the Dancer class was introduced.

8 Hope: Take G'raha Adventuring

G'raha deserves the world after everything he went through in Shadowbringers. He is a fan favorite and has self sacrificed in every way to save others.

Now he is back in the Source with a second chance at life. The life he always dreamed of is to go adventuring with the Warrior of Light. So of course players are hoping that they can help that dream come true in the next expansion.

7 Fear: The Villains Are Uninteresting

Shadowbringers had one of the most interesting villains in the series: Emet-Selch. Now that he is gone, as is Elidibus, Zenos seems to be taking center stage again as the main villain.

A lot of fans find this to be a step down. Zenos has proven to be uninteresting, only acting out due to boredom while Emet-Selch actually had complexity.

6 Hope: They Fix The Housing Crisis

With each expansion getting higher and higher ratings, more and more players are picking up Final Fantasy XIV. There is even the phenomenon of World of Warcraft refugees dropping the older MMO for Final Fantasy.

This has created what fans call the "Housing Crisis." The game has wards full of homes to buy and decorate, and there are not enough for the amount of players that want one. It is looking like Ishgard may get housing soon, so that will certainly help.

5 Fear: It Can't Live Up To Shadowbringers

Shadowbringers was the best expansion yet according to online reviews. With the game known for its high quality and great story, there is a lot more to lose in creating future content. Will it live up to the hype that was Shadowbringers?

4 Hope: A Big Glamour Update

Currently, players get glamour plates to create outfits and can assign them to different clothing sets. It is better than what it used to be, which was having to glamour each piece separately.

Fans are hoping for either more plates or the ability to assign glamours to classes rather than gear pieces. Also, many are hoping to get glamour dressers in their homes so they can organize their fashion in their houses rather than in inns.

3 Fear: Not Taking Players To Garlemald

All hostilities typically came from Garlemald since the beginning. A lot of fans were actually expecting Shadowbringers' to be in Garlemald, but it turned out to be in a whole other world.

Now that Shadowbringers' is over, 5.3 ends with its focus back on Zenos and the war. It is looking very likely that players will get to travel to Garlemald in the next expansion. If that turns out to be untrue, many will be disappointed.

2 Hope: Male Viera And Female Hrothgar

Viera and Hrothgar are gender-locked races that were introduced in Shadowbringers. This was met with a mixture of excitement and disappointment from players. They loved new races, but did not like that they were gender-locked with viera being only women and hrothgar being only men.

It is highly unlikely that Square Enix will introduce new races in the next expansion, but it is possible that they could introduce male viera and female hrothgar. That would certainly make a lot of fans happy.

1 Fear: Blue Mage Is Still Useless

Blue Mage is a class that came up in-between the Stormblood and Shadowbringers' expansion, and it is a wild card that a lot of players have been fine ignoring. This is because the class cannot be used in dungeons and its level cap is less than others. It almost feels like it's not even a class, but a gimmick. Fans are hoping that more content will be utilizing this class to make it more interesting.
