The enjoyability of these dungeons vary among the Final Fantasy 14 fandom. Some are too easy, some are too hard, and there are some with tedious mechanics that are pretty frustrating. While most of the games' dungeons are good fun, there are some that make fans sigh if they pop up as a daily dungeon roulette.

Updated August 10, 2021 by Allison Stalberg: Final Fantasy 14 is undergoing a population boom of new players. This means a ton of new Warriors of Light are doing dungeons for the first time, especially in A Realm Reborn content. It is widely agreed upon by fans that A Realm Reborn contains the worst dungeons in the MMO, so a lot of these most disliked dungeons are rising up in daily roulettes again. Among these dungeons are the tedious, the boring, and the downright hardest for beginners. If you pop into one of these dungeons, do not be surprised if others leave immediately.

15 Dusk Vigil

Dusk Vigil statue.

Many call this Dusk Vigil their least-liked Heavensward dungeon. Its only sin is being boring though. It is not the hardest, and it is not memorable in the least. The music also is one that can put players to sleep, until the last boss wakes them up a little. However, even the last boss fight is boring, as its mechanics feel like a recycled Garuda.

Dusk Vigil is level 51, so it can appear in a leveling roulette.

14 Hullbreaker Isle

Hullbreaker Isle.

Players tend to like the aesthetic of the jungle, but not much else. Tanks can get frustrated as there are a lot of doors that do not allow big pulls.

The bosses are also not popular at all. The second boss of the dungeon, in particular, is annoying, as it jumps underground a lot which makes players lose their stacks such as poison. The last boss also goes underwater so much that it can make the fight take a long time to beat despise a high damage output.

13 Snowcloak

Snowcloak Yeti boss.

Snowcloak is a quick dungeon, but one that can easily put a player to sleep. This is not only because of the music but because creatures tend to take a while to die. The infamous of these is the Yeti boss, as it has unique mechanics that requires certain adds to stay alive. Then the tank as to bait the Yeti into breathing ice on the adds to turn them into snowballs. Then before the Yeti can cast its big AOE attack, the players must kick the snowballs at him.

That alone is a long explanation some players will have to give in this dungeon, making it pretty frustrating.

12 Pharos Sirius

pharos boss battle

This level 50 dungeon has some decent music, but a lot of players tend to hate everything else about it. The bosses have tiresome mechanics, most notable is the Zu. It is the first boss of the dungeon, and one that is known to kill many parties due to its mechanics.

Basically, the Zu has two types of eggs, spotted and plain. Depending on which ones the players attack and how many of them, the Zu will get buffs that can eliminate a whole party quickly.

11 Brayflox Longstop

brayflox longstop final boss

"Long and boring," is the typical player description of Brayflox Longstop. It is a level 34 dungeon and has very little that is unique about it. The boss battles take little thought and there is one part of the jungle area that a tank can easily over-pull and get the whole party killed if they are not careful.

10 Copperbell Mines

the copperbell mines

The Copperbell Mines is a boring dungeon in every way. It is too easy but also has boss fights that take patience due to their mechanics. It is a low-level dungeon too, so veterans also get to have the pleasure of feeling like they can barely do anything.

The Ichorous Ire boss is the absolute worst, as it makes all players but the tank have to basically just stand around and wait.

9 The Wanderer's Palace

the wanderers palace boss fight

There is a part of this dungeon that is quite easy to get lost in, as you need to collect items and put them in certain places to unlock the next area. While doing that, players have to avoid the giant Tonberry that deals a ton of damage if it gets close.

Luckily, the giant Tonberry is very slow-moving. It is still a pain to deal with though, especially if you are lost.

8 The Stone Vigil (Hard)

The Stone Vigil (Hard) opening cutscene.

This level 50 dungeon is one that is known to pop in 50/60/70 dungeons roulettes from time to time. It is not so bad, but many players are frustrated with the mechanics of the second dungeon boss, Cuca Fera. This boss can not be fought by regular methods.

Players have to spread out to operate four cannons to attack Cuca Fera. If the boss turns red, the cannon fire will bounce back and hurt the players instead. At the same time, the healer can't allow the NPCs to die. It is just a frusterating fight due to its mechanics, and it can be confusing for first-timers.

7 The Tam-Tara Deepcroft

tam tara boss battle

While the hard version of this dungeon is actually really cool story-wise, the normal version is not memorable in the least. Due to its incredibly low level, it is a major disappointment for veteran players to do in a leveling roulette.

The dungeon is pretty ugly too, being just a dark pit in the ground with no real substance.

6 Cutter's Cry

cutters cry

It is easy to lose party members in Cutter's Cry, especially if they aren't familiar with the dungeon. Players have to teleport through quicksand and if a tank does this after pulling enemies, the enemies may attack the players left behind and stun-lock them to the point where they cannot access the teleport.

The final boss, the chimera, is a big killer of beginner players too.

5 Sunken Temple Of Qarn

sunken temple of qarn battle

The biggest pain of the Temple of Qarn is the special enemies that are required to be killed on top of stands to open doors. Players can kill it too soon and have to wait for it to stand back up. Or it will die just a little off-center and not count, which is quite frustrating.

On top of that, there are killer bees that can one-hit KO players. DPS class players do not always kill them immediately, which can be bad for the party's survival. Also, beginner players may struggle with the Doom mechanic of the first boss.

4 Dzemael Darkhold

darkhold dungeon

This is one of those dungeons where it can be very easy to pull too many enemies. Even if the pull is good, a lot of players may not understand that they should stand in the light of the crystals for these fights.

Something seems to always go wrong with run-throughs in this dungeon. If it is not pulls or crystals, it is the toad room that can wipe a party.

3 Castrum Meridianum

Castrum Meridianum area.

This dungeon as well as the Praetorium are easily avoided by veteran players by never doing main story roulettes. It is a little special, as it is not a normal raid, but a full party in a dungeon.

The long cutscenes are unskippable. This is so new players can enjoy the story because veterans used to rush through and leave them behind. So while it may be cool the first time around, it is a total pain to do again afterward. Some players do it anyway because it gets them a lot of tomestones.

2 Thousand Maws Of Toto-Rak

toto rak boss fight

The reward for worst beginner dungeon goes to Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak for obvious reasons. It is so easy to get lost in this dark weaving labyrinth of a dungeon. To make the experience all the worse, there is poison on the ground through a large section of the dungeon that slows player movement.

On top of all that, veteran players get their levels synchronized incredibly low.

1 Aurum Vale

aurumn vale with lalafel

The amount of hate players have for this dungeon is meme-worthy. It is not uncommon to die in the very first area due to how easy it is to over-pull enemies. The boss fights require an annoying fruit-eating mechanic to get rid of poison stacks.

The dungeon is also full of Morbols. If their breath is not dodged, the players get a ton of annoying debuffs.
