Shadowbringers begins in Lakewood, and you'll be spending a great deal of time here in the early hours hiking your way through its gorgeous purple forests. As is always the case with Final Fantasy 14, there's something to be said for getting to know a zone on foot, but that sweet reward of soaring is the end goal.
To unlock flying, you'll need to do something you're undoubtedly quite familiar with by now — attune to every aether current. But if you're picking FF14 back up again after a bit of a hiatus, you might not be aware yet that with Endwalker's launch, all previous expansion zones have had their field current total reduced to four. There are still five quest-based currents, for the record; that much hasn't changed.
