Alex Moukala released a small remix of Final Fantasy 14's "To The Edge" earlier this month and his work did not go unnoticed. The popular YouTuber and music producer is known for breaking down video game soundtracks and composing his own arrangements which he posts on his YouTube channel.

Moukala's videos garner thousands of views as he breaks down songs from popular franchises like Persona, Kingdom Hearts, and NieR just to name a few. But Final Fantasy has always been a staple on his channel. He has analyzed multiple tracks from the franchise and even made covers of his own.

When Moukala posted a small remix to the final boss track from FF14's recent 5.3 update, it caught both Square Enix and composer Masayoshi Soken's attention. He praised Moukala for his work and requested he make a full version of the cover.

Moukala was happy to oblige and expressed his excitement from the recognition across his social media. He titled the full cover "AMAUROT FUNK: a FFXIV To The Edge Remix" and posted it to his Twitter and YouTube channel on August 20. In the description, he said this was the "first time I ever publish a cover where I play for two minutes straight and it's also the hardest thing I've ever played on bass."

The comments are flooded with how impressed people are with Moukala's remix, especially with how intricate and funky the bass is. In his analysis of the original track, Moukala mentions how much he loves the bass line, so to see his own interpretation of the music is definitely a treat.

Since posting the cover, Moukala has continued with even more Final Fantasy content, an example of which is an interview with "Rules of Nature" and "Shadowbringers" singer Jason Charles Miller. The two spoke about their love of music, what it was like to work with Soken on "To The Edge," what it's like working in the video game industry, and much more. With this and many other accomplishments under his belt, it will be exciting to see what Moukala tackles next.
