Aerith, or Aeris as she is known in the original Final Fantasy VII released in 1997, is still highly regarded by fans as one of the best heroines in the Final Fantasy franchise. She is the most powerful magic-user in the party and provides some of the most life-saving support spells in the game.

These traits have carried over into the Final Fantasy VII Remake where the character is developed and built upon for more modern audiences. However, with the wait for the second part of the remake a few years away the best way to continue the story for newcomers is to play the original game.

However, the differences in gameplay may be jarring for some players at first, so let’s rank Aerith’s best Limit Breaks and how to get them to help prepare fans for the adventure ahead.

7 Seal Evil

The Seal Evil Limit Break is Aerith’s second level 1 Limit attack in the game. To unlock it, players need to use the Healing Wind Limit Break 8 times in a battle. When cast, the Seal Evil Limit can inflict Stop and Silence status effects on enemies.

The Seal Evil spell can be very useful against groups of enemies as it will render their attacks ineffective for a short period of time. However, there are many enemies like bosses that are invulnerable to Stop and Silence so it will not be useful in all situations.

6 Breath Of The Earth

The Breath of the Earth Limit Break is Aerith’s first level 2 Limit break and is unlocked after 80 enemies have been defeated in battles. The Limit Break allows Aerith to cure negative status ailments such as Poison, Sleep, Frog, Petrify, Slow-numb, Small, Fury, Confusion, Stop, and Silence.

It’s a great last-ditch effort to cure the party if they’re in trouble. However, most players will have already made the effort to cure such status ailments before Aerith reaches her Limit Break.

5 Healing Wind

Aerith’s Healing Wind Limit Break is the ability that she will start the game with and will remain one of her go-to Limits for a good duration of the game. It solidifies Aerith’s position as a healer and support caster in the party. It is only bettered when the healing materia has reached Curaga status and is combined with All materia.

The Healing Wind will heal all of the party members for half of their maximum HP and is extremely useful in the early stages of the game.

4 Fury Brand

Aerith’s Fury Brand is her second Level 2 Limit Break. It will be unlocked after she has used Breath of the Earth 6 times in battles. Once activated, the Fury Brand Limit will allow Aerith to sacrifice her own Limit gauge to maximize the other two party member's gauges in combat.

It’s a powerful ability that results in two Limit Breaks to be triggered at one time, which can really swing the battle in the player’s favor. However, gamers need to be mindful of how full the other party member’s Limit gauges are or using the Fury Brand will be a wasted opportunity.

3 Planet Protector

The Planet Protector is Aerith’s first level 3 Limit Break and it is unlocked after Aerith has defeated 80 enemies in battle after the Breath of the Earth Limit Break as been obtained. Once activated, the Planet Protector casts a barrier around the party, making them temporarily invincible.

The Planet Protector is one the most effective support spells in the game and players would be wise in building and saving this Limit Break for difficult battles (like the boss fights) where it would prove to be the most useful.

2 Pulse Of Life

Aerith’s second Level 3 Limit Break is the Pulse of Life. It will be unlocked once Aerith has used the Planet Protector 5 times in battles. Once the Limit Break has been initiated she will cast a spell that will fully replenish all party members' HP, MP, and cure all negative status ailments.

The Pulse of Life is an excellent Limit Break and makes Aerith an invaluable member of the team during long, drawn-out dungeons where the random encounter rate is high.

1 Great Gospel

The Great Gospel is Aerith's final and ultimate Limit Break that can be earned in the game. It can be obtained by first getting Mythril from the sleeping man located in a cave in Junon. However, he will only give the item to the party if the total number of battles fought has the last two digits matching as odd numbers - like 99, 133, 155, 177, 199, and so on.

The Mythril will then need to be taken to a man in a small house that is located to the southeast of the Gold Saucer. He will then give the player a choice between a small and a large chest for a reward, the Great Gospel is in the small chest. While it takes some effort to obtain, the Great Gospel can be obtained early in the game and is one of the best Limit Breaks in the game. It’s a combination of both Pulse of Life and the Planet Protector in one spell.
