Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core Reunion launched this week, and to celebrate, Square Enix is giving away a Buster Sword plush. Not a little replica you can pop on your desk, but a full-sized plush that looks remarkably similar to the swords Zack and Cloud wield.
Highlighted by GamesRadar, the competition is now live and runs through December 19, 2022, so will include Final Fantasy's 35th anniversary. To enter, go to Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Japanese account and interact with the tweet announcing the competition. There are some caveats though, some of which are likely to render many of you reading this ineligible to win.
First of all, your Twitter account needs to be public, not private. That's an easy one to rectify. The other hoop you need to jump through might not be quite so simple to change if it doesn't already apply. The competition is only available to people living in Japan. If you live outside of Japan, your luck is already out, unless you want the plush so bad that you can move there before the end of the week which would take some doing.
To make matters worse, even if you do live in Japan, the website detailing the competition implies there is only one Buster Sword plush up for grabs, with Amazon gift cards being given out to a handful of runners-up. With no hint that the sword will be available to buy after the competition has ended, there's every chance the plush is a one-of-a-kind. If that never changes, and its owner ever gets bored of using it to cosplay Cloud, a few Final Fantasy fans would probably be willing to part with a lot of money for it.
For the majority of us who won't be adding a Buster Sword plush to our collection, there is still a lot of Final Fantasy stuff to look forward to in 2023. Final Fantasy 16 will launch on June 22, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is still on track to be here before the end of the year, and updates to the Pixel remasters' ratings, which have now been removed, hint they'll be launching on consoles soon.
