While we were all wielding Cloud's buster sword through Dualshock and DualSense controllers, one player was bringing the iconic weapon to life.

Figuring out ways for games to feel more immersive and real must be one of the more challenging tasks facing developers right now. It's hard to imagine how some games and their environments could possibly look any better than they already do. That's one of the reasons why the PS5's DualSense has rightfully had so much praise showered upon it over the course of the last 12 months.

PlayStation has also been doing a lot of work in the VR department with an all-new take on the concept being worked on as we speak. In the meantime, Spooky Louis 64 has been working on something that falls somewhere between the DualSense and PS VR experiences. A full-sized Buster Sword you can use while playing as Cloud in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

You can see the incredible controller in action above. As Louis swings the controller and uses it to defend himself, Cloud imitates those same motions. As awesome as an invention as the sword controller already is, Louis explains that it's currently just a prototype. The weight of the blade compared to what is a relatively tiny grip is one issue being worked out. Cloud never does divulge the toll the cumbersome sword takes on his wrists in the original FF7 or the Remake. What a trooper.

This isn't the first time Louis has dabbled in the world of creating his very own alternate controllers. Earlier this month he used Ring Fit Adventure's Ring-Con to run across Final Fantasy 14's Eorzea. The long list of projects Louis has shared with the world also includes playing Call of Duty with Donkey Konga's Bongos, and using bananas to beat the final boss in Dark Souls 3. Now that's just showing off.

There are quite a few efforts out there to recreate Cloud's Buster Sword in real life. Most of them revolve around Cloud-related cosplay though as opposed to creating one allowing you to wield the weapon in-game. As the end of Louis's video demonstrates though, if this is ever something you get the chance to try for yourselves, make sure you do it in a really big, preferably almost empty room.
