Final Fantasy Versus XIII might not have seen the light of day, but the memory of the game still lives on in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, as fans will be able to purchase Noctis' outfit from the canceled game as DLC.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII was meant to be part of a trio of games alongside Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0 (originally known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII), where they all shared similar concepts. The plans were changed, as Final Fantasy XIII received its own trilogy and Final Fantasy Type-0 languished in Japan for years before receiving an HD remake in 2015. Final Fantasy Versus XIII was first shown at E3 2006, but it vanished from public view for years. The project was officially canceled and revived as Final Fantasy XV, which wouldn't be released until 2016.

The people who wish to see Noctis enter battle in his original outfit from Final Fantasy Versus XIII will soon be in luck, as Square Enix has revealed a trailer for the Noctis Prototype outfit DLC for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The outfit is the same as the one Noctis wore in the trailers for Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

The fans have often wondered what Tetsuya Nomura had originally planned for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and it seems that Nomura himself has not forgotten the project, as he included a significant homage to the game in Kingdom Hearts III. The story of Final Fantasy Versus XIII was never fully revealed to the public and many aspects of the game were changed in Final Fantasy XV. The same fate also befell Final Fantasy XV, as the remaining DLC for the game was canceled and the new happy ending that was planned was relegated to being adapted as a novel. It seems that Noctis isn't as lucky as some of the other Final Fantasy protagonists when it comes to concluding his stories, but at least he can continue to make appearances in different crossover games for years to come.

The Noctis Prototype outfit will be coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT in November.
