People who who ordered physical copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake through Amazon have been receiving emails stating deliveries have been delayed.

As 2019 turned the corner into 2020, what was a very crowded first half of the year for blockbuster game releases started to thin out a little. Release dates for Final Fantasy VII Remake, Marvel's Avengers, and Cyberpunk 2077 were all delayed, the latter two pretty heavily. The delays have become even more annoying as time has passed what with many of us currently housebound with little to do but play video games.

While the gaming industry has been affected detrimentally in numerous ways by the COVID-19 outbreak, in certain other ways it has a distinct advantage over its media rivals. Conventions and tournaments around the world might have been delayed or cancelled, but games can still be released as planned provided they are finished and ready to go.

That only goes as far as digital downloads, of course. As more and more stores are forced to close and people self-isolate, buying a physical copy of a game might not come so easy. In fact, people who have ordered physical copies of FFVII Remake received emails this week stating deliveries of the game, due to arrive on April 10, 2020, have been delayed indefinitely, reports Hey Poor Player.

Although sending out an ambiguous email with very little information wasn't a great first move on Amazon's part, credit to the company for clarifying and easing customers' minds soon after. Amazon has since clarified that for now, the delay only applies to the Collector's Edition of the game. Deliveries of this edition have been delayed until April 30, 2020, but the regular version of the game will still be winging its way to gamers on April 10.

Panic over then, at least for the most part. Not for people who have ordered the Collector's Edition of FFVII Remake, of course. Plus, everything is so uncertain at the moment that there is no way of knowing where Amazon's delivery schedule will be three weeks from now. Hopefully, it will be affected by the ongoing pandemic as little as possible, and those who have ordered the game will get it on time, allowing them a much-needed escape from the real world.
