Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to be the first part of a series of games that expand upon the story of Final Fantasy VII, which means that elements from the original that couldn't be realized on the PlayStation can now be brought to life. The most recent trailer for the game has revealed that a frustrating aspect of the original Final Fantasy VII is being changed in the remake.

In Final Fantasy VII, the Shinra Electric Power Company is run by President Shinra, who is one of the most despicable characters in the game. The first encounter that the player has with President Shinra happens during the Sector 5 Reactor mission, where he is encountered by AVALANCHE on a walkway. The party has a brief chat with President Shinra before he decides to split on his helicopter, leaving Cloud and his friends to tackle the Air Buster robot in a boss battle.

What makes this scene so frustrating is that the members of AVALANCHE have a chance to off the leader of the organization that they oppose, yet they do nothing. Barret's arm is a gun and he has the opportunity to take down one of his most hated enemies in a hail of bullets, yet he never even makes the attempt. President Shinra is an overweight older man standing on a small runway, which means he has no chance of dodging an assault by a minigun. A video of the scene can be seen below as part of Zashtheman's Let's Play of Final Fantasy VII on YouTube.

A new trailer for the Final Fantasy VII Remake was recently shown during the 2019 Tokyo Game Show event, which has revealed some of the changes that will be present in the game. It has been revealed that the scene involving President Shinra during the Sector 5 Reactor mission now involves a hologrammatic projection, instead of the President showing up in the flesh.

It makes a lot more sense for President Shinra to mock the efforts of AVALANCHE from afar rather than risking his own neck by facing them in person. President Shinra is in control of an organization that controls most of the world, so he's unlikely to face a group of terrorists with a reputation for blowing up reactors and taking innocent lives just so that he could give them a Bond villain speech.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is due to be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.
