Quick Links
Final Fantasy 13 has a staggering variety of equipment available, including unique weapons for each of the game's six heroes. You will need to search every corner of Cocoon and Pulse to track everything down, and even then the highest-tier gear can be difficult to find. With this guide, you'll be able to easily determine where you should be looking for your next gunblade, spear, or boomerang!
Weapons in Final Fantasy 13 can be divided into two tiers. Tier 1 weapons can be purchased in shops, found in treasure spheres on the map, or both. Tier 2 weapons must be synthesized by first leveling up an existing weapon through the crafting system then combining it with the appropriate catalyst. A newly-synthesized weapon is usually weaker than it was before the transformation, but can be leveled up further until it eclipses its former potential. Any max-level Tier 2 weapon can be further synthesized into an ultimate weapon, which can become even more powerful. Ultimate weapons inherit the trait of the weapon they were crafted from, if any existed, so choosing the right weapons to upgrade is important!

Gladius: In the area called the Ambulatory, continue straight until the game forces you to turn right. The Gladius is waiting for you just before entering the next corridor.
Edged Carbine: The sphere containing the Edged Carbine is on your left as you pass through Field Trial Range N during Chapter 5. Be on the lookout for ambushes!
Axis Blade: After Hope and Snow fight the Ushumgal Subjugator in Chapter 7, the game cuts to Lightning and Fang. During this segment, look to your right at the far end of the central arcade (just before leaving the first area). A treasure sphere contains the Axis Blade.
Lifesaber: At the beginning of Chapter 9, look for a treasure sphere on your left as you begin the climb to the Rotary Sphere (just after leaving the External Berths).
Hauteclaire: During your first journey across Gran Pulse in Chapter 11, you'll pass through Mah'Habara after taking the northwestern exit from the Archylte Steppe. The sphere containing Hauteclaire will be on your left before the first fork in the path.
Lionheart: At the beginning of Chapter 12, move forward while staying to your left. About halfway through the Grand Prix Circuit, you'll pass a treasure sphere on your right. Take the next right to grab it.

Deneb Duellers: Shortly after defeating the Manasvin Warmech in Chapter 3, the party will enter an area called Encased in Crystal. At the second fork, go left to pick up the Deneb Duellers and a handful of gil.
Procyons: In the first area of Chapter 6, hug the right wall after the second save point. You'll find the treasure sphere in the first room after that point.
Spica Defenders: At the beginning of Chapter 8, after Sazh and Vanille pass through the Chocobo Corral, a treasure sphere can be found on the zig-zagging path through the Mall.
Rigels: In the Hibernatorium area of Chapter 10, two powerful Berserkers patrol a large room before you take the elevator. Whether you fight them is up to you, but be sure to grab the treasure sphere to the right of the exit on the far side of the room.
Pleiades Hi-Powers: While passing through the abandoned village of Oerba in Chapter 11, be sure to take a right after the path makes a U-turn and check the deserted schoolhouse for two treasure spheres.
Antares Deluxes: After entering Leviathan Plaza from Siren Park in Chapter 12, there will immediately be a save point and a treasure sphere to your left.

Paladin: After Snow achieves gestalt with Shiva for the first time in Chapter 7, check all the side paths in the first area following the fight. A path to the right will have a treasure sphere containing Paladin.
Umbra: On the Palamecia's bridge access, be sure to check both side corridors before confronting Barthandelus. The right-side area contains Umbra, which is most easily found by taking the second right from the main corridor.
Feymark: After fighting Raines in Chapter 10, the next area has two star-shaped rooms filled with Pulsework Knights and Circuitrons. After passing through these, look immediately to your right to find the treasure sphere containing Feymark.
Unsetting Sun: Upon reaching the sixth level of Taejin's Tower in Chapter 11, one of the two treasure spheres in the first room contains Unsetting Sun — specifically, the one on the left.
Rebel Heart: You'll find this in the treasure sphere on the Expressway, halfway between the third and fourth save points in Chapter 12. There's only one path, so this one should be easy to find.

Gae Bolg: In the Western Promenade area of Chapter 7, take the right-hand path at the fork (the wider of the two). You'll find a treasure sphere containing Gae Bolg.
Pandoran Spear: Just before entering the Rotary Shaft in Chapter 9, be sure to grab the treasure sphere sitting on the path. It contains the Pandoran Spear.
Partisan: The beginning of Chapter 11 is a long, narrow path through Vallis Media. The treasure sphere will be waiting for you about halfway through.
Taming Pole: After passing through Oerba Village in Chapter 11, you'll see a treasure sphere guarded by a Vetala on your right, just before a long, narrow section of the Rust-Eaten Bridge. Defeat the monster and claim the spear before moving on to a major boss fight.
Punisher: After taking the elevator from the Expressway in Chapter 12, the Punisher will be on your right just past the save point.
Shamanic Spear: Upon beginning Chapter 13, go to the large circular area ahead. Take the northeastern path and use the warp on the right. Go all the way to the north in the new area and look for a save point. Turn around when you see it before activating the switch to rearrange the Tesseracts, and the treasure sphere containing the Shamanic Spear should be in sight.
