It seems that the PC version of Final Fantasy XV is going to become the definitive edition of the game, thanks to a planned update that will add a set of modding tools to the game.

Square Enix revealed during a panel at PAX East (via IGN) that the PC version of Final Fantasy XV is due to receive an update later on this year that will add a series of tools for owners of the game, which will allow them to use the character creator from the Comrades multiplayer mode in the main game, in order to customize the appearance of the main character. This will be followed by tools that will allow players to create their own unique costumes, items, and weapons, which can then be uploaded to the Steam Workshop and used within the game.

A level editor is also planned, which will the player to customize the existing maps in order to create new stages, which will also include the ability to set basic quest markers. All of these updates combined will allow players to be able to create their own unique twists on Final Fantasy XV.

So what does this mean for Final Fantasy XV in the long run? Fans will have to wait roughly o.5 seconds before a clothless Cindy mod is added to the game, as the people of the Internet will be true to their nature and have it completed as soon as possible. After that will be a mod arms race to see who can be the first to put in teams of characters from the other Final Fantasy games so that you will be able to replace Noctis and his friends with the members of AVALANCHE or the Returners.

These kinds of mods will likely take some time to refine, but once they are completed they will help to keep the game relevant throughout its next period of "Episode" DLC which will likely end up running until 2020.

Final Fantasy XV technically spent a decade in development, yet these latest update will keep the game fresh for an even longer period of time.
