The ESRB has leaked info on an upcoming Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition, which might just the compilation version we’ve all been hoping for.

Final Fantasy XV continues the franchise’s tradition of epic storytelling that has become synonymous with the words “final fantasy”. Unlike previous entries into the series, rather than release stand-alone sequels, Square Enix decided to follow the current industry trend of releasing episodic downloadable content to keep players hooked.

With four already released, Final Fantasy XV seemed ripe for a Game of the Year edition just in time for the holidays, but Christmas came and went without any sign of such a compilation. Now, it looks like Square Enix might be on their way to finally release a bundled version of the game.

Better late than never, right?

The ESRB recently published a rating for Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition, but as the Board is only concerned with ratings there wasn’t much else there other than a name and description of the game, which generally matched the description already found on the original. In case you were wondering, the rating remained a “T for Teen” for “Language, Mild Blood, Partial Nudity, Violence.”

But come on. What else could this game be but a compilation edition with all released DLC?

If you’re a fan of the game and think this might be the end of FFXV content, you’ll be happy to know that the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, says that more DLC will be coming in 2018. During FFXV’s “Active Time Report” last November, Tabata revealed that he would like to see "at least three" more DLC this year, with the first dealing with Ardyn, the game’s main antagonist.

Tabata goes on to say he’s not so much concerned with sticking to a timetable, and wants to ensure that each new DLC is released only when “properly sufficient.” He’s also hoping that the new DLC will get players who have already beaten the game back to playing Final Fantasy XV once again.

And for those of us who have eschewed consoles altogether, Final Fantasy XV will also be coming to PC (most likely by way of Steam) in early 2018.
