The end of an era is upon us - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is about to get its final DLC fighter. At the best of times, the new character demands can be passionate, and disappointment is high if it doesn't meet the fanbase's expectations. So with this marking the last opportunity for fans to get their pick in the game, the community is abuzz with speculation.
From Sora, Master Chief, Rayman and many many more predicted to be the final fighter, Sakurai has quite the task at hand to please fans. And now with a tweet from the official Smash account telling fans to let their "imaginations go wild", the guesses are getting even more ambitious.
First up, there's Crash Bandicoot. Sakurai, unfortunately, made the mistake of tweeting a picture of a PS5 controller, leading many to think that this was a confirmation that Crash was in. Another reply suggested that this was confirmation that Rayman will be the final fighter, considering his first game was on the PlayStation.
But let's be honest - Sakurai was probably just playing the PS5, yeah? He's spoken in the past about his frustration that he can't "connect with other games" without everyone thinking it's a Smash confirmation, so he probably wouldn't choose to feed into that now.
Over on the Super Smash Bros subreddit, fans are simply using their intuition to guess what character will make it in. Of course, there's plenty of players hoping Waluigi will get his time to shine, given all the jokes made at his expense around launch.
On the other hand, there are two picks who have been called for a while now: Master Chief and Sora. The former would make some sense, given Halo Infinite's looming release in November. However, Sora would fit a little better tonally, given Kingdom Heart's child-friendly nature (not that it's stopped Nintendo before, mind).
Whoever the final fighter might be, we'll find out for good this Tuesday. The broadcast is set for 7 AM PT, 10 AM ET and 3 PM BST.
