The first look at Evil Dead: The Game's Castle Kandar map has been revealed, with details on the update promised to come soon.

One of the biggest surprises of 2022 so far is without a doubt Evil Dead: The Game. What looked like it might just be another asymmetric horror game based on a licensed property turned out to be something much more exciting and a real tribute to the Evil Dead series, with a thriving community surrounding it.

That community has been patiently waiting for a new update to hit the game and we've finally got a first proper look at the new map included in the update - Castle Kandar. Saber Team has already confirmed back during the game's launch Castle Kandar would be the game's first post-launch map, but we only got a look at concept art for the area at that time.

The two images shared don't give too much information about the map, except that it'll take place at night and seems to include areas from both the inside and outside of the castle. It's not much to go on, but the concept art thankfully gives us a little bit more of an idea of what to expect from the location.

The concept art for the map shows Ash stood in a cave outside of the castle, presumably the area where he falls asleep in Army of Darkness. We also get to see an area that's clearly based on The Pit, which actually already exists in the game through the final single-player mission, which pits the player against the titular "Pit Bitch".

Interestingly, Saber Team refers to this update as the "Army of Darkness" update, which implies that there's a little more to it than just the Castle Kandar map. Considering most of Army of Darkness' characters are all accounted for in the game already, except for Stella, it seems likely that she could be added to the game as a new survivor alongside the map.

Saber also confirms that more information on the release timing of the update is "coming soon", having previously said that it'll release during the Summer.
