Oscar Isaac is jumping from one blockbuster to the next, with Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, a Metal Gear Solid adaptation, and Marvel’s Moon Knight all in the pipeline. The latter recently began filming and the first set photo that has emerged puts Ethan Hawke in the spotlight, wearing an eyebrow-raising outfit.

Aside from the casting confirmation of Isaac, Hawke, and May Calamawy, the only other tidbit we’ve got from the production is a short video showcasing Isaac’s combat training. The 42-year-old actor was seen delivering a series of impressive combos against stuntmen, with tight choreography adhering to Marvel’s high standard. Isaac will play the titular vigilante in the upcoming series - due to release in 2022 - but mystery still surrounds the villain in which Hawke will be portraying.

An Oscar Isaac fan posted a set photo on Twitter, showing Hawke walking through a crossing in Budapest, Hungary. The actor can be seen sporting long hair and a beard whilst wearing a reddish suit. The Marvel community has speculated that Hawke could be playing Mephisto - Marvel’s answer to the Devil - but other villainous candidates include Khonshu, The Sun King, and Bushman. Hawke even seemed to be wearing a matching face mask, therefore, his outfit could be his own or a decoy.

Moon Knight will follow the millionaire and entrepreneur Marc Spector, who was resurrected by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu after an archeological expedition endangered his life. Moon Knight has been labelled as Marvel’s Batman, because after his resurrection, Spector invests his money in technology to start fighting crime.

The Disney Plus series is due to run for six episodes with Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead sharing directorial duties, with Jeremy Slater - of The Umbrella Academy fame - penning the script. The show will join Marvel’s lengthy list of Phase Four features, both on the small screen and silver screen, offering an exciting promise of crossovers in the future.

Hawke previously stated that he jumped at the chance to be in Moon Knight because he wanted to work with Isaac, and the Star Wars star will be donning the bandana as Solid Snake for Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Metal Gear Solid adaptation. The script will be penned by fellow The Rise of Skywalker crew member Derek Connolly, which will hopefully be free of the video-game-to-film adaptation curse.
