No one would disagree with Square Enix after the publisher called Marvel's Avengers a "disappointment". It's been well over a year since the live-service game launched, and unlike it's silver screen counterpart, nobody seems to care about it. While the Hawkeye and Black Panther DLCs did temporarily boost the player count, they couldn't do much for it overall. It now lies in the hands of Marvel's most popular hero.

The Spider-Man DLC will finally make it to Marvel's Avengers at the end of this month, but we haven't caught a glimpse of the friendly neighbourhood superhero... until now. Crystal Dynamics was discussing something rather boring in a recent dev stream, but whether by accident or via careful planning, one of the gear screens happened to show Spidey in the background (thanks, GameRant).

The devs however, pretended like nothing had happened and continued talking about gear score, resources, or something else we couldn't be arsed with. Though he was mostly covered by UI, this was our first look at Spider-Man and his character layout menu. While not much was visible besides his head and feet, fans' spider-senses tingled as they spotted a nameplate with J. Scott Campbell's artwork on it.

This will have to keep fans going till Friday, when another dev stream is scheduled to properly showcase Spider-Man and his various costumes.

The hero will once again fulfill his dream of joining the Avengers on November 30 - unfortunately only on PlayStation consoles - as part of the Great Power hero event. He will partner with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow to stop a looming technological threat while keeping his identity a secret. "As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?" says the official description of the event.

Other changes that will come with the update include a power level increase from 150 to 175, recyclable gear to help upgrade your current set, the ability to purchase new gear via Shipments, and weekly objectives for each hero.
