Working out has been a bit of a slog for me since the middle of summer. To kick off Independence Day weekend, my family and I were rear-ended in a car accident, resulting in me needing to pause my weight lifting program and Peloton sessions as I got checked out by medical professionals. As someone who literally needs those 30-60 minutes of daily workout/”me” time for the sake of my mental health, this was a bit of a struggle. After all, physical therapy twice a week can only go so far.

But then, I was offered a chance at trying out Flexispot’s Sit2Go 2-in-1 Fitness Chair, which is essentially a workout chair that acts as an alternative solution to a traditional desk chair. The Sit2Go Fitness Chair won’t replace your regular desk chair outright, but it does offer up an awesome way to keep moving throughout the workday with an added benefit of boosting your energy as you spin while at your desk.

The Sit2Go is a seated bike with a breathable mesh backrest that allows you to exercise while at your desk. The supportive seat cushion is comfortable yet firm enough to support extended use, but firm enough to support, with the seat height itself being easily adjustable. You’re also able to make your “rides” as easy or as difficult as you desire with the resistance knob that is easily within reach while sitting in the chair.

Yes, I used it while working in spreadsheets and project management applications, but when I was off the clock, I was spinning while playing Madden 22 and Rocket League. If you’re like me in thinking that spinning while doing any sort of gaming would be distracting, I can confirm that the exact opposite is actually the case. Even during my first use, I found that I was moving my legs and spinning even at some of the most intense parts of the games I was playing. Scoring an overtime goal in Rocket League? Kicking a last second game-winning field goal in Madden? I found myself still spinning just as much as I was in calmer situations.

I’ve kept my resistance at the medium-most setting, and it seems to give me exactly what I’m looking for: a way to stay active/engaged while remaining at a desk for ten-plus hours a day without simply using a standing desk. Don’t get me wrong, I love my standing desk and utilize it pretty consistently throughout the day. However, now I have the option of pulling the Sit2Go up to my standing desk and adding an additional layer of engagement to my workday.

That’s not to say that the Sit2Go will fully replace any sort of cardio workout routine you may have. While you’ll certainly get a bit of exercise if you’re consistently spinning while you work, your focus and energy is likely going to remain on exactly that – your work. The Sit2Go is more of a tool that will keep your energy levels higher while working, a task which it performs admirably. I’ve noticed that I’m more alert and capable of staving off the afternoon lull if I’m using the Sit2Go, which helps keep me more productive.

As much as I appreciate the Sit2Go as a way to stay active while sitting, I do wish that the seat felt a bit more sturdy. Out of the box, the seat feels great, but after a few weeks of use, I’ve noticed that the seat feels a little looser, requiring me to retighten the bolts more than I expected. I also wish the seat positioning was a little more flexible in terms of moving forwards and backwards. There’s essentially three different settings for the seat’s depth, which is set by removing and screwing in some bolts. Maybe I’m spoiled by my Peloton, but I feel like a more adjustable seat would make the already comfortable Sit2Go chair even better.

Ultimately, if you’re looking for a new way to keep your body engaged while working or gaming without simply resorting to standing (or using an exercise ball), the Flexispot Sit2Go 2-in-1 Fitness Chair is absolutely worth every penny. Just add it to your routine of switching up your positioning throughout the day, and you’ll find that it does the trick to keep you engaged and energized. The Sit2Go won’t be leaving my office anytime soon.
