Generation 5 added one of the largest amounts of new Pokémon of any generation in the franchise. It will forever be known as a large expansion of the series because of all the new creatures that fans could catch in the Unova region and how powerful most of them are compared to other regions.

This list will cover the least memorable creatures that fans encountered in generation 5 and maybe tell fans about a few monsters that they didn't know existed. From Drilbur to Deerling, here are 10 creatures that fans forgot existed from the Unova region!

10 Drilbur

This creature can drill through the ground with its sharp hands and quickly get around using its tiny mole body. Although Drilbur isn't especially memorable it is still one of the most interesting choices to catch in the entire region and players should keep that in mind the next time they play a generation 5 game.

It's also a cute creature and that just adds to all the things that are great about it. Hopefully, this creature will get some time to shine in the future. Interestingly, this creature is known well in the speedrunning community, as it is the Pokémon used most often in Generation 5 runs.

9 Deerling

There are very few deer-themed Pokémon in the franchise and this one was a breath of fresh air for players to catch. Although Deerling was popular during its initial generation, since then it hasn't gained much new popularity.

This is a shame because it was one of the best creatures added with generation 5 and there are few other creatures that are cuter than this deer. Its initial look captivated fans when it was first revealed, however, since then, it hasn't done much.

8 Blitzle

This electric horse is yet another forgettable creature in the giant region of Unova. It's an easy creature to catch because of its weak stats, however, for trainers that raise it correctly, it can be a very powerful Pokémon.

There are a bunch of great Electric-types in generation 5, however, this one kind of fell flat because of its odd appearance and low stats. Maybe it will get a regional form in the future, but fans shouldn't hold their breath.

7 Gurdurr

This is a very strong creature and lots of fans caught it if they needed a partner on their team that has a high attack stat. It's tough for sure, however, also very boring and weird looking so most fans skipped out on their chance to catch it.

It's no surprise that most players didn't want to catch one of these because there's nothing very special about it and its weird in appearance. This is yet another creature from generation 5 that was forgettable, and there are so many reasons for that fact.

6 Audino

Audino could sing any giant creature to sleep. It has an interesting moveset, but that doesn't make it especially strong, and although it has a cute appearance it wasn't enough to sell players on catching it.

Hopefully, it'll appear in more games moving forward, but that probably won't redeem this long-forgotten creature. At least players got to catch it in generation 5 and it will probably continue to appear in some of the other games in the future.

5 Maractus

There a few cactus Pokémon in the franchise and this was one of the most boring ones that players could catch. Maractus' appearance was cute but it isn't very strong and its moveset is very small.

Most fans think that this Pokémon could use more evolutions or a stronger typing and that's why fans didn't catch one for themselves. It will almost certainly not be brought back as a major creature in the future because of how boring it is.

4 Venipede

This is one of the many Bug-type creatures that players can encounter within generation 5 and although it's actually one of the strongest bugs in the region it was extremely forgettable. It is occasionally used in competitive battling and its evolution is quite the powerhouse.

It's definitely going to go down as one of the stronger bugs in the series, but that doesn't make it memorable in the slightest because so many other bugs are better. Even with a new regional form his creature probably wouldn't gain much popularity because it's just that forgettable.

3 Basculin

There were already too many fish creatures in the series when generation 5 released and this just added to all the repetitive Pokémon. Water-types are infamous for being very similar to one another and having themes that are close together, which is one reason why this fish was forgotten easily.

Basculin is also extremely weak and had a boring design that didn't stand out at all. Because of its repetitive theme and weak attacks, this Pokémon is one of the most forgettable in the region.

2 Ducklett

This bird sure is cute but it definitely isn't memorable. When most fans look at this creature they can't even remember what generation it came from, let alone that it was added in generation 5.

One upside to this creature is that it is easily caught so most players did end up getting one for themselves despite not liking it much. The only trainers that catch this creature usually are ones that are interested in cute Pokémon and it definitely is one of the most adorable in the region.

1 Tirtouga

There are so many turtle creatures in the series at this point it can be hard to remember them all. This is one of the issues with this fossil because it is yet another Water-type turtle that is extremely forgettable.

It probably will not get any new regional forms in the future because it is a fossil Pokémon and they are usually confined to one variant. Fans can still hope though, because although this creature was forgettable it was also extremely powerful and cool in appearance!
