Sony has announced that it has a new senior vice president for its Global Partner Development & Relations division. Former Capcom USA CEO Kiichiro Urata, who departed Capcom just last month, has taken up a new role within Sony as its head of Japan/Asia partners and development relations.

Urata most recently held the position of head of Capcom USA and Europe business divisions from 2011 to 2021 before leaving Capcom in August. Before that, Urata served as an executive within Microsoft between 2002 and 2011.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz about the global pandemic and Capcom's response last March, Urata said that the rules had changed for video game launches, noting that it was actually a more "convenient" strategy to launch Resident Evil Village during what was traditionally considered the "quiet seasons."

In other Capcom news, we might be about to get a Resident Evil 4 remake without even realizing it. During the PlayStation Showcase last week, the eagle-eyed Redditors spotted a Las Plagas symbol in the trailer, an icon inseparable from Resident Evil 4. Capcom has yet to offer comment.
