Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi, a former member of team Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced his retirement from competitive CS:GO in favor of moving onto VALORANT. In his TwitLonger statement, pyth wrote how after nine years of competition he was thankful to the people that he has worked with along the way, but that over the last few years he has not felt as though he managed to return to a level he was one on, nor found a place where he belonged.
“Moving forward, I have found a new spark in the new game VALORANT which I'm addicted to,” pyth begins, “this is a fresh start for me and I enjoy it very much and grind at least 12 hours a day with the goal to become one of the best players in the best team.”
Pyth did not go into detail about who or where he might be playing, but it seems like something has been lined up, as he states, “Announcement about my future will come shortly in the upcoming weeks, I have a few things going on that I can't reveal yet but I'm eager to start with a team of 5 and begin practice.”
It will be interesting to see how Pyth does in VALORANT, as the game is finding success in attracting professional players from several different games. While players like Pyth has the mindset, discipline, and skill set to dominate in a game like CS:GO, it remains to be seen how well that will translate over to VALORANT in an effort to become a top-ranked player. Shroud recently explained in detail the challenges associated with attempting to reach those levels of play in the competitive scene, and that few players have the consistency in their play to perform at the levels needed to take down other top teams.
In any case, we wish Pyth all the best and cannot wait to see where he settles once he is free to share more details. VALORANT has just become a little more interesting with this news and it will be great to see Pyth playing competitively.
