Frey has all sorts of magic at her disposal in Forspoken, but her defensive and enhancement options are the fundamental spells. Without support, all the other red, green, blue, and purple spells don’t matter - you can’t exactly use them if you’re knocked out on the ground with Breakzombies towering over you.

Support ranges from gaining back health on successful hits to entrapping enemies in vines and ice. Frey can use these support spells and then chain additional magical attacks to inflict extra damage, building up debuffs on her adversaries. These spells cover the four magic types, but you’ll need a goldmine of Mana before unlocking them all.

10 Inundation

Frey fighting a mini boss on a stretch of grass.
  • Prav's magic

Inundation improves Frey’s chances of landing a critical hit on an enemy, giving you a more significant opportunity to deal severe damage to whoever you use the spell on. How much Inundation improves your chances isn't really said anywhere, but it is still beneficial to keep using, especially among larger waves of enemies.

If you have to thrash out multiple enemy waves, Inundation may give you the upper hand to knock them out faster and more efficiently rather than waiting for your Ultimates to charge to unleash them.

9 Aggression

  • Olas' magic

Many of Olas' spells are quick-firing attacks you can use in between waiting for other spells to cool down. Whenever using Olas' spells, you'll want to use multiple by constantly switching between them to get the most out of this power. Aggression is perfect in this regard because it will mark enemies to then subsequently use charged attacks.

Like critical hits, charged attacks inflict more damage than a basic one, so you can use this to target a few select enemies and take them off the battlefield.

8 Displacement

Frey battling a wave of enemies. There are cliffs and trees in the background.
  • Olas' magic

Displacement is a distraction spell that creates a double of Frey that enemies will attack rather than the real her. If you're all out of options and running low on health where things aren't looking too great, Displacement will draw your attackers away from you, allowing you to regain your bearings.

Once setting off Displacement, you can use other support spells like Bind to stop an enemy or two from momentarily being able to attack and then couple it up with an attack spell to take a few of them out.

7 Charge

Frey using Charge on an enemy.
  • Sila's magic

A large sum of enemies are weak to Sila's magic, so keep in mind to use her spells when you can. Charge for one is both an offensive and defensive support spell where Frey rushes forwards into enemies and drives them back. It is a fantastic dispersal tool to separate foes from each other and pick them off one by one.

You can also use Charge to run through enemies who are either blocking your path or when you don't feel like dealing with the fight.

6 Alb

Frey fighting multiple archer enemies on a bridge.
  • Prav's magic

Unblockable attacks are the worst in all cases but are made more annoying when it's this final blow that takes you out of the fight. To reduce the risk of this happening, you can utilize Alb, a Prav spell that drastically reduces the damage when hit with an unblockable or piercing attack.

You'll want first to learn as many of the enemy move sets as possible to apply Alb at the right moment accurately; otherwise, you might waste it on a standard and utterly blockable attack.

5 Disperse

Frey using the Disperse spell to place a flower cannon that attacks enemies.
  • Frey's magic

While many support spells are one-and-done events acting as secondary attacks, Disperse is a continuous process that places a flower turret on the playing field that will attack any nearby enemies. The effect doesn't last too long, but for its short duration, it will stun and keep pesky rivals from nipping at your heels.

Rush into the center of the fight, place this flower in a prime spot, and then head back to the outskirts to attack with ranged spells. You'll defeat all of your attackers in no time.

4 Tendril

Frey using the Tendril spell against a mini boss.
  • Frey's magic

Tendril is an ivy whip that covers a medium area of effect, granting health back to Frey based on the damage it deals. For this reason, you'll want to bring out Tendril in a fight with many enemies close to Frey. This way, you can both damage enemies and regain a majority of your health back in a singular attack.

Since Frey's magic encompasses all fighting styles, there are always additional spells within this set you can mix together to chain attacks and bolster your defense.

3 Bind

Frey using the Bind spell on an animal to prevent it from attacking.
  • Frey's magic

Bind is another earth element spell that extends the binding duration when upgraded. However, unlike Tendril, which is terrific for multiple enemies, Bind works best when focusing on a single target. You can use this spell to tie the opponent to the ground and unleash a barrage of attacks from any of the sets to bring down their health with Burst Shots.

Upgrade it enough, and you can use it to halt enemies altogether, wiping them out before they even land a hit on Frey.

2 Leach

Frey fighting an alligator-type monster.
  • Frey's magic

Enemies love to use poison on Frey, and you'll need a quick way to combat this. Using Leach will cure any poison debuffs you have, working just like the many other status healing spells in the game. Upgrade Leach to level two, and it will automatically heal you while curing the poison.

You will have to keep on top of the poison effect by using it more than once in a fight to ensure Frey is healthy, so make sure you always have enough Mana reserved for these ailment spells.

1 Crucible

Frey using the Crucible spell to create a wall of fire.
  • Sila's magic

Crucible was one of the main spells the Forspoken Demo showcased and, luckily, is one of the most vital ones to use during a tough battle. Deploying Crucible will summon a tall wall of fire surrounding you, damaging enemies within the division and boosting your attack power.

By placing it, you'll have a lengthy amount of time to incapacitate everyone within its reach and move on to the next battle without taking as much damage as usual since enemies will be quicker to take down. Restoring Mana to use Crucible takes longer than most spells, but it's always worth using among large groups.
