As you explore the region of Visoria, you'll come across many monuments - as you have been doing so since you began the game. Some of these are Monuments to Wisdom, and these hold the keys to Flashbacks, Forspoken's answer to challenge sequences in which you can earn lots of mana, valuable crafting resources, and bragging rights, depending on the scores you attain.

Visoria's challenges are quite tough - there's a footrace that involves some very steep drops, a hectic fight against so many flocks of birds, and a boss battle against some of Tanta Olas's favorite toys. Here's how to get the best scores.

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Combat

The waves in this challenge are all spread out, so follow the flag icons to find the next enemies when you're done with a wave.

Waves:

  1. This wave is all Canis Dirus Simulacrums.
  2. Head further up the hill to encounter a group of Amphicyon Simulacrums.
  3. Follow the path to find more Amphicyon, as well as a Chapalania Simulacrum.
  4. Head under the arch and down the hill to run into an ambush of Amphicyon and Chapalania Simulacrums.

The doglike enemies in this challenge are weak to Frey's Magic, so they're quite easy to beat with simple rapid-fire shots or Burst Shots. The Chapalania, however, are weak to Sila's Magic instead, and thanks to their large health pools, it's worth switching to that to take them out.

The final wave is the toughest to avoid damage on - try to take out the Amphicyon with area attacks - Surge Magic would be perfect, if it's charged.

Visorian Plateau Flashback Challenge - Nightmare's Roost

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Fire and Thylacoleo

In this flashback, you'll need to avoid damage as you take out lots of flying enemies.

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Disperse Birds

Waves:

  1. This initial wave is full of Vorona Simulacrums.
  2. Once the initial wave is dealt with, a group of Kelaino and Qiliania Simulacrums will spawn nearby.
  3. Around the hill you'll find more Kelaino Simulacrums. After killing a few, the fourth wave spawns immediately close by.

The flying enemies in this challenge are all weak to Frey's Magic - mashing the trigger button to shoot at them quickly will counter any speed they have as birds, and Disperse will help massively.

Kelaino, on the other hand, are weak to Sila's Magic. Use Blast Slice at a range to avoid their dazing attacks, and beware the huge swarm that spawns at the end of the challenge. Crucible will help out massively once the second wave of Kelaino spawns.

Academy Hills Flashback Challenge - Outpost At The Edge Of Despair

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Townspeople

This tough challenge involves keeping some NPCs safe from enemies who want nothing more than to kill them.

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Thylacoleo

Waves:

  1. At the beginning of the challenge, a group of Boggart Simulacrums spawn.
  2. The next wave is a group of Miacis and Thylacoleo Simulacrums, which spawn at around 4:45.
  3. At around 4:10, you're faced with a flock of Vorona Simulacrums.
  4. At around 3:30, a pack of Amphicyon and Canis Dirus Simulacrums will attack, along with a few more Vorona.
  5. At 2:45, more Amphicyon and Canis Dirus Simulacrums spawn from one side, with more Miacis and Thylacoleo Simulacrums from the other.
  6. At 1:50, two Chapalania Simulacrums will attack.
  7. At 1:00, some Borophagus, Amphicyon, Thylacoleo, and Nunda Simulacrums will attack from both sides.
  8. At 30 seconds, two Arctodus Simulacrum spawn.

Knowing and taking advantage of your enemies' weaknesses is the key to success here. The dogs are weak to Frey's Magic, while the cats and bears are weak to Sila's Magic. When faced with groups of both cats and dogs, use your Support Spells (Disperse, Tendril, etc.) to deal with one group easily and then focus on thinning out the alternative.

When it comes to the bears, make sure you distract them and move them away from the townspeople quickly - they can deal a lot of damage with their large attacks.

Be wary once the Borophagus and Nunda Simulacrums join the fray. They can buff their allies with howls, making it very likely that any stray hit puts you in severe danger.

Inner Visoria Flashback Challenge - Downhill Dash

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Race Timer

This is Visoria's racing challenge - all you have to do is reach the destination, taking the enemies out as you go. We recommend grabbing the Float spell from the Fount in Inner Visoria, just nearby, before taking this on.

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Killing a Thylacoleo

Route:

  1. Reach the first checkpoint and kill the Boggart Simulacrums there with Disperse and rapid-fire Frey's Magic shots.
  2. Head down the hill and quickly shoot the Boggarts down and then use Sila's Magic to take out the Thylacoleo Simulacrum.
  3. Leap down the cliff toward the checkpoint and use Float to survive the fall without losing stamina, then race toward the Breakzombie Simulacrums.
  4. Head further down and kill the Thylacoleo at the next checkpoint.
  5. Race toward the flock of Qiliania at the next checkpoint. Frey's Magic should do thanks to its quickfire accuracy when mashing the trigger button. Disperse will help too, if it's recharged. They're weak to Prav's Magic, but it's too slow to kill for a task like this.
  6. Race to the final checkpoint inside the fort, using the Zip point on the way for some extra speed.

Your success in this challenge depends on how quickly you can kill the more annoying enemies, which would be the Thylacoleo and the Vorona. Boost your Purple and Red Magic stats as high as you can for the best success.

Forspoken Visoria Flashback - Bardaga Lantern

The boss is a Bardaga Lantern, meaning you have to take out the enemies it is connected to, these being two Recreant Knights and two Pitiless Arbiters. This makes this challenge a tough one unless you're a bit overleveled.

  • Take out the Pitiless Arbiters first with Sila's Magic, unless they manage to switch into their defensive modes.
  • Once the Arbiters are down, take out the Recreant Knights.
  • Your Surge Magic should end up fully charged before you break the Lantern's barrier - save it for destroying the Lantern in one cycle.
  • Ignore the extra enemies if you can - focusing on the barrier-blocking enemies and destroying the Lantern as soon as possible will net you more than enough points to reach the highest prize, so you don't have to worry about combos or multipliers.
