Fortnite/Avengers Crossover Teases Use Of Iconic MCU Weapons

Fortnite is getting some kind of Avengers-themed update on April 25, which might allow players to use iconic MCU weapons. The Fortnite Twitter account posted two images recently, appearing to tease players with the ability to wield the most iconic weapons in the Avengers movies.

Two days ago, the Twitter account posted an image of a character wielding Captain America's shield.

The second one, which was posted yesterday, shows a character holding Stormbreaker, Thor's ax, Stormbreaker, from Avengers: Infinity War.

Though Iron Man does not have a weapon like the other two characters, players are speculating that we might be able to use his iconic suit's arms, enabling us to fire repulsor beams. Of course, this is under the assumption that Fortnite is giving players these items in a new Limited Time Mode or just for cosmetics. It's also possible that these teases are for something else entirely.

Recently, a notable rumor made the rounds claiming that Thanos would be returning to Fortnite to capitalize on the release of Avengers: Endgame. The Infinity Gauntlet LTM was a popular mode that was introduced to tie in with the release of Avengers: Infinity War last year.

In the mode, the Infinity Gauntlet lands on the map. The player who grabs it is transformed into the villain himself. Thanos is greatly overpowered, thus encouraging brief alliances among players to take him out. Once Thanos loses, the Gauntlet is up for grabs again, and the cycle continues.

Whatever the case, Avengers and Fortnite fans have something to look forward to. Currently, Fortnite is in its eighth season. The most recent LTM brought the airplanes back for a sky shoot 'em up. The map changes have been substantial, with the removal of Lazy Links and Wailing Woods. The entire northeast sector of the map has been revamped with new areas. The game now has an overall diverse map, with areas dedicated to the desert, snow, and lava. Meanwhile, The Block continues to be a fun showcase of players' creations.

We'll know soon enough what new Avengers tie-in Fortnite has in store. Avengers: Endgame releases April 26th.
