What The Fortnite/Avengers: Endgame Crossover Could Bring To The Game

Fortnite has been teasing its second Avengers crossover event, which will start April 25th, and many players are theorizing about what it could involve.

Avengers: Endgame is almost upon us and so begins a very painful few days for those of us who want to avoid spoilers at all costs. With some special screenings already taking place, spoilers for the highly anticipated movie are already out there. It's time for us to batten down the hatches and eliminate anything that might spoil the movie for us from our lives until we have seen it. However, first, let's breakdown something we are equally as excited for: the second Avengers and Fortnite crossover.

Last year, to coincide with the release of Infinity War, Fortnite launched its Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mode. The mode required players to seek out the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet. Naturally, there was only one, and whichever player wielded the weapon not only had its power, but they also turned into Thanos. The mode was incredibly popular and many players were hoping for it to return this year. However, it looks as if Epic and Marvel have something else in mind.

This week, the next Fortnite/Avengers crossover has been teased via the former's Twitter account. It started with a picture of a Fortnite character holding Captain America's Shield. Next, an image of someone holding Thor's Stormbreaker. Now, a third image of someone using Iron Man's repulsor gloves has been posted.

Other than the date, very little has been revealed about what this second collaboration could involve. Whatever it is, players will be able to be a part of it from April 25, this Thursday. This is when Endgame will first be officially released in cinemas around the world, which means that whatever we Fortnite players have got to look forward to, it will almost definitely be spoiler free. The last thing those of us who won't be seeing the movie until the weekend want is to play a few rounds of Fortnite and have the movie spoiled.

Judging by the images that have been posted so far, it seems pretty clear that players will be able to find and use some of the Avengers' iconic weapons. Again, aside from the three that have already been revealed, it is anyone's guess as to which ones will be added to the game. It is also entirely possible that last year's Infinity Gauntlet mode returns, but this time players will have more powerful weapons to help them take down whoever turns into Thanos. The overpowered gauntlet was pretty much the only thing gamers didn't like about the LTM last year, but that was quickly altered.

There is a chance that the crossover won't be a brand new LTM at all or that it won't add any new weapons to the game. When it comes to previous Fortnite collaborations, Infinity Gauntlet aside, most just involve different skins. Take the NFL and the DJ Marshmello concert, for example. Players might just get the chance to purchase Marvel-themed skins in the Fortnite store. Even though we say just, we have no issue with that. We would pay a lot of V-Bucks to look like Black Panther or Spider-Man in-game.

When we first heard about last year's Infinity Gauntlet LTM, we instantly thought it would mean the holder of the weapon could click their fingers and half the players on the island would be eliminated. On the one hand, that sounds like an incredible idea. On the other, we can imagine a lot of people hating it. That being said, if you don't like it, then don't play the LTM. Epic and Marvel will want as many people playing it as possible, though, so we doubt that The Snap will be making an appearance this time around.

Fortnite's Endgame crossover is coming. Whatever it includes, we think it'll be the perfect distraction from Avengers spoilers. Just make sure that if you're playing as part of a Squad, which is highly likely if you can portray different Avengers, that you turn off everyone's mics. You never know where spoilers might be coming from. Be vigilant everyone, we're in the Endgame now.
