*Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War to follow*

Fortnite's new event brought Avengers villain Thanos to the Battle Royale, but after only a few hours of play he has already been nerfed from "omnipotent and omniscient" to "just pretty tough and angry."

Thanos the Mad Titan arrived in Fortnite today via a new mode titled, appropriately enough, "Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup." The new mode starts off like any other game of Battle Royale: 100 players jump out of a flying bus, spread out all over an island, equip weapons and supplies, and blow each other to smithereens as the map gets smaller and smaller. This time around, though, one player may be lucky enough to find the Infinity Gauntlet, an artifact that immediately transforms the wielder into Thanos. The game then transforms into a sort of "one vs. whoever is left" slugfest.

The event is a sort of cross-promotion between two of the biggest media properties in the world right now: the Marvel Cinematic Universe - specially Avengers: Infinity War - and Fortnite Battle Royale. The Russo brothers, directors of the recent blockbuster, have been big fans of the game for a while, so it was actually a natural fit.

Still, just like in the movie, Thanos is proving just too much for our heroes. Epic, developers of Fortnite, have elected to depower Thanos just a little bit to make the game actually challenging for whoever is lucky enough to wield the power of the Infinity Stones.

Via a post on Reddit, Epic Games confirmed that a hotfix has gone live to nerf the Mad Titan just a little bit. His Shield Cap has decreased from 300 to 200; his laser damage to players was decreased from 15 to 12; and, just to make sure his defenses weren't totally reduced, his Max Health was increased from 700 to 800.

Still, he's a heck of a threat - as he should be. Have any of our readers managed to obtain the gauntlet? Has it been just a little bit too easy up to this point?
