A real-life version of Fortnite's battle bus is being kitted out at Universal Studios right now, but the reason for its presence remains a mystery.

Fortnite loves a good crossover, bringing characters from Marvel, Star Wars, Stranger Things, and more into The Loop since it launched four years ago. Every now and again, the crossing over goes the other way. Elements from the battle royale game make it out into the real world. Sometimes that takes the form of a Balenciaga clothing line, and sometimes it's something else.

Like a Battle Bus showing up at Universal Studios Hollywood, for example. Park-goers have been sharing photos and videos of the lifesize Battle Bus on social media which appears to have been spotted for the first time earlier this week. It looks exactly like the one that takes you to the island in-game and is in the process of being kitted out with decorations and lights.

Despite it being prepared in plain sight, no one has been able to figure why exactly it's there. One person to have shared a video of the bus claims they asked a nearby security guard who simply said they had something big planned. Clearly, a crossover between Fortnite and Universal is in the works, but exactly what that will include remains unclear.

It's possible that Universal Studios could be getting its very own Fortnite-themed ride. It seems unlikely that would be the case without anything being leaked or revealed up until this point. If the Battle Bus is being prepared, then it's assumed a ride would have been completed and almost ready to go, yet completely hidden from sight if true. Then again, Universal Studios Japan continues to keep everything other than the massive locked door to Super Nintendo World's Donkey Kong expansion completely hidden, so it can be done.

What's more likely is Fortnite will be getting some Universal-owned characters in-game, perhaps in conjunction with its Halloween Horror Nights event. That might well happen alongside Fortnite items being sold at Universal Studios, as well as the chance for fans of the game to hop aboard a real-life Battle Bus. It might not be a ride, but it would still make for a pretty cool photo opportunity.
