Fortnite has been celebrating Halloween for most of October. In addition to the game already having a good selection of scary skins to sport to feel the vibes of the spooky season, it also introduced a handful of horrific aesthetics players can equip.
From classic movie monsters to licensed nightmares and ghoulish original designs, Fortnite has plenty of options that truly make it feel like Halloween.
8 Hay Head
Over the last few decades, it feels like the Batman villain known as Scarecrow has become much scarier to general audiences than the general concept of scarecrows. The Hay Head skin in Fortnite is working to fight against that perception and showcase just how off-putting scarecrows can be.
The neat thing about this skin is that there is both a male and female version that both put the scare back into the word scarecrow.
7 Teef
Now, Teef is a skin in Fortnite that scares more slowly and creepily. Simply looking at the creature won't strike fear in your heart, but the longer you look at it the more discomforting the entire situation becomes.
It's a sentient pile of goo that has fit itself into a jail uniform and the only feature on its head is a mouth full of disgustingly large teeth. This is the type of beast that kidnaps children and eats them whole.
6 Hollowhead
Though creatures like mummies, vampires, and Frankenstein's Monster have been iconic for Halloween, one design that has grown in popularity over the years is the headless horseman with a jack-o-lantern head.
Hollowhead in Fortnite is that universe's version of the design and sports a ghoulish green glow that emanates from inside its pumpkin head. There's also a more comedic take on the design called Jack Gourdon, which can also be found in the game.
5 Nitehare
Rabbits are an interesting case of an animal that's almost always cute, until it isn't. The Easter Bunny for instance is often seen as this welcoming figure, but there are plenty of horrific costumes that give children nightmares.
The Nitehare skin in Fortnite is exactly that and features a soul-less looking hare with two giant ears that work to cover its face and add a layer of mystery. If a rabbit and a serial killer did a Dragon Ball fusion dance, Nitehare would be the result.
4 Big Mouth
It's often the case that the scariest creatures tend to be the ones that have animalistic traits, but it's unclear what they are exactly. Big Mouth fits this perfectly as the amorphous amphibian sports a giant mouth and tongue that reside on a body that seems to have been stitched together.
An easy way to scare people is to have a mouth that looks just large enough to consume a human whole, and Big Mouth, as his name would suggest, passes that test with flying colors. Anyone without some form of self-protection would likely be screwed if they ran into Big Mouth in a dark alley or the middle of the woods.
3 The Mummy
Forgive the pun, but the Mummy tends to get a bad wrap when it comes to classic movie monsters. People joke about it being wrapped in toilet paper, but given the right design, it can come off as scary as anything else.
Fortnite's take on the Egyptian horror staple is pretty good and the bundle for it comes with a metallic gun skin, an Egyptian staff, and a sarcophagus back bling item. It all comes together in a nice package that's perfectly appropriate to wear during the Halloween season.
2 Batman Who Laughs
The Batman Who Laughs is a version of Bruce Wayne from a comic book arc of the same name. His terrifying appearance is thanks to him being an alternate version of Batman from what is known as the dark multiverse.
This is a Bruce that very much embraced the dark, twisted, and chaotic nature of the Joker and appears to be a hybrid of both characters intertwined into one. It may not be specifically Halloween-themed, but it is horrifying nonetheless. Also, it's a Batman skin, so wearing it is getting the best of both worlds.
1 Frankenstein's Monster
It's hard to outdo the classics and when it comes to Halloween there are few things more iconic than Frankenstein's Monster. Sure, most people simply refer to it as simply Frankenstein, but Fortnite did a great job bringing the physically imposing nightmare to life with their skin.
Its bundle includes the ability to either have it in a black and white aesthetic that gives off the vibes of classic movie monster cinema or to go with a vibrant modern look to the giant. His bundle also includes a back bling item that's a tubular vile filled with a brain.
