Fortnite continues to reign as one of the more popular video games on the market, and their younger-skewing demographic can't get enough of all the skins they add to the game. Many of those skins are licensed and come from every corner of pop culture and entertainment, but it's hard to find any as influential in the modern landscape as Marvel is.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a beast all its own, and Fortnite has ridden that wave with plenty of Marvel superhero skins. Out of all of them, though, which ones are the best of the best? It's time to sort through all of the skins and deem the best of the best when it comes to the Marvel and Fortnite collaborations.
8 Starlord/Groot - Guardians Of The Galaxy
This entry is a bit of a cheat but it's hard not to include both the Starlord and Groot skins on this list. Those who played during the Marvel season were able to unlock a back bling item featuring an animated Rocket Racoon. That means that he can be equipped with any of the Guardians of the Galaxy skins and he fits.
There's also a baby Groot back bling that works in the same manner. Marvel can make any character mainstream, and it's never been more apparent than with the lovable band of misfits led by Peter Quill.
7 Storm - X-Men
Marvel fans are waiting for the day in which Marvel finally announces their plans for the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Until that day comes fans have to settle for what's provided. Thankfully Fortnite delivered with a Storm skin, that in both versions, pays tribute to an amazing representation of black women.
She has both her all-white classic suit which is the look most fans are familiar with but has an alternate form where she's sporting all-black, with an amazing mohawk and jewelry that feels invocative of African design that very much inspired the fashion of Wakanda and Black Panther.
6 Black Widow
When trailers first dropped for the Black Widow movie, fans lost their mind when the hero spy dropped out of a helicopter in an all-white suit. Fortnite, being the kings of opportunity, managed to have that version of Black Widow available via skin and bundle purchases close to the movie's release in theaters and on digital demand.
There's also a Fortnite skin with her in a black suit, sporting her logo on the center, which is closer to comic appearances and less so inspired by her movie costumes.
5 Loki - Thor
Tom Hiddleston's Loki can be considered the most beloved character in the Marvel films that isn't one of the core Avengers. His recent Disney+ series titled Loki added to the character's legacy and it was met with a skin in Fortnite, reflecting his iconic look from the first Avengers film.
His bundle came with a harvesting tool that is his iconic scepter, which holds the Mind Stone at its core. It also included a green and gold cape, as well as a gliding object and loading screen.
4 Captain America
The Marvel Cinematic Universe helped turn Captain America into a household name and beloved hero. This was a huge turn for someone who many mainstream superhero fans saw as a lamer version of Superman. The skin in Fortnite is reflective of Steve Rogers and his time in the stars and stripes.
With the new Disney+ series giving the title to Sam Wilson it'll be interesting to see if Fortnite eventually includes a version of the hero based on the man once known as Falcon.
3 Black Panther
The passing of Chadwick Boseman, the actor who portrayed Black Panther in the film of the same name, has left this character with an imbued sense of purpose. That film did a lot for representation and Black Culture in the mainstream, and it's great to see that extend to Fortnite.
In addition to the skin, the game featured a tribute to the late Boseman, which saw all of the other Marvel Fortnite characters emote the Wakandan salute. It was a touching moment for someone who meant so much to so many people.
2 Iron Man
For those who played Fortnite during the Marvel branded season, they knew that Iron Man was the carrot at the end of the stick. The neat thing about this skin is that it starts as a sheer-clothed Tony Stark, that applies the Iron Man suit via an emote.
The only disappointing part about his bundle of items is that he wasn't gifted with an animated descent that fit the skin's aesthetic in the same way other heroes on this list were provided. Either way, he was the core of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the right choice as the final reward skin for the Marvel season in Fortnite.
1 Thanos
Thanos happens to be one of the best payoffs and villains in cinematic history, and Marvel was able to nail his arrival, which came after 20 theatrical releases. In Fortnite, his bundle not only including a skin featuring his intimidating look, but also came with an Infinity Gauntlet harvesting tool, and a silhouette of the gauntlet players could sport on their pack.
He's a rather large being, but the developers at Epic Games were able to keep his proportions for his skin and make it work.
