A brand new update to Fortnite has added a surprise skin in celebration of the Fourth of July. Players can use their precious V-bucks to grab a Captain America skin pack, as well as a unique emote.

Epic Games announced the skin on Twitter with a cinematic trailer. In it, Steve Rogers arrives on the battlefield using the Bifrost. He triumphantly gazes over the island before placing his trusty shield onto his back before dropping into battle.

The Captain America skin can be purchased for 2,000 V-bucks, the real world equivalent of about 20 USD. Included in the pack is the skin, which seems to be based on Captain Rogers' comic book appearance more so than Chris Evans' take on the character. Additionally, purchasers will receive his iconic Proto-Adamantium shield, both as a harvesting tool and a back bling.

In addition to the main skin bundle, the "Grand Salute" emote is also available in the store for only 300 V-bucks. The emote allows players to strike a patriotic pose while fireworks launch into the air behind them. This emote is part of the official Marvel rarity, which is how we know it is intended for use with the Captain America skin. However, players can use the emote regardless of what skin they currently have equipped.

This is not the first time Marvel characters have appeared in Fortnite. Star Lord, Black Widow, X-Force, and Deadpool have all received skins during past seasons. Since their initial run in the item shop, these skins have not reappeared. This Independence Day weekend may be the only time for players to purchase this Captain America skin.

Epic Games have done a great job of creating high quality crossover events. DC Comics has gotten love when Tilted Towers turned into Gotham City, a segment of the map became cell-shaded in celebration of Borderlands 3's release, and the Millennium Falcon flew by before The Rise of Skywalker. If there's one thing Epic has consistently gotten right over the course of Fortnite, it's their attention to detail and dedication to showing appreciation for other forms of media.
