PlayVS, a company who has run high school esports leagues for League of LegendsRocket League and SMITE, has announced that it's starting two new Fortnite leagues - at the high school and college levels. This marks a few firsts—the debut of Fortnite among PlayVS's supported games and the first college-level PlayVS league, which is also the first ever official competitive college Fortnite league.

Teams at both the high school and college level will be able to register in duos as long as they register with a coach. An unlimited number of teams will be allowed from any given school, just as long as they register with PlayVS. Tournament play will take place among conferences chosen by the organization, which will be arranged by geographical location for high schools and at PlayVS's discretion for college play.

As in most sports, PlayVS divides each seasons into a preseason, regular season and post-season. Each year are two, roughly four-month long seasons corresponding with the Spring and the Fall. Spring of 2020 will be the first to introduce Fortnite to the mix. Tournament play is divided up by game each week, such that Rocket League and SMITE matches will be played on Thursdays, LoL matches on Tuesdays, and Fortnite exclusively on Wednesdays. The PlayVS website also features a selection of matches from across its spectrum of esports on its home page every week.

At the end of each season, the top-ranking teams will qualify for the playoffs, which will take place in May in the Spring. Plus, during every week of the eight-week season, the top three highest-scoring teams will earn spots in the playoffs as well. Tournament play for Fortnite is unrestricted by platform and device.

The Fortnite high school league's preseason begins on February 17th with regular season play kicking off on February 24th. Registration for college level teams then closes on February 26th, in time for its regular season to begin on March 2nd. More information about PlayVS and its tournament format can be found on the official PlayVS website.
