If you got Fortnite's Battle Pass last season and enjoyed the Kymera skin and having to collect Alien Artifacts, the Toona Fish skin will fill a very similar role this season.
The Season Eight Chapter Two Battle Pass is looking really good, the skins are all quite diverse and most of them come with a few alternative styles. Toona Fish in particular comes with a wide range of customization options but you will have to do a bit of grinding if you want to unlock all of them. You can unlock more Toona Fish customization options by collecting Rainbow Ink and Color Bottles.
There is another tab in the "Paint a Toona Fish" menu. It's right below Character Styles, but what its content will be remains a mystery — it will be revealed further down the line. It might be more Character Styles, or perhaps it'll be a way to take Toona Fish's customization a step further. It would be fun to be able to change its clothes and give it some accessories, like silly hats or some cool capes!
It seems that more Toon-like skins might be in store for the future, a leaked Fortnite skin survey reveals that a Toon Peely skin is likely to join the battle and everyone is pretty excited for it.
How Rainbow Ink Works
There is a difference between Color Bottles and Rainbow Ink. Color Bottles are scattered all over the place on the Battle Royale island, but you have to go to specific locations to get a Color Bottle of a particular color. Color Bottles are used to unlock different colors for Toona Fish. Rainbow Ink is very similar, but it's a different resource that you won't find in the same way.
Rainbow Ink can be found inside any type of chest. You will have to collect it if you want to unlock Character Styles. These are different from Color Bottles because you won't be painting Toona Fish in a uniform color, it'll be various colors that will resemble specific outfits in the game.
However, you still have to get certain Color Bottles depending on which Character Style you'd like to unlock. So, for example, if you want to get your hands on the Red Knight Character Style, not only will you need 10 Rainbow Ink, but you'll also need to find three Knightly Crimson Color Bottles beforehand, it's a prerequisite for all Character Styles.
At the moment there are 21 different Color Bottles colors, to unlock each color you'll need to find three bottles of it, meaning there are 63 Color Bottles around the island. Then, there are also 21 Character Styles. To make them available on top of the Color Bottles you'll need 10 Rainbow Ink for each style, which means you'll have to collect 210 Rainbow Ink from chests.
