If you're a fan of Funko Pops and an avid player of Fortnite, then be prepared for those two worlds to collide later this year.
People love to collect things and have been doing so for years and years. Stamps, model trains, stickers, trading cards. While all of those still have a place in the modern day collecting world, they have all been overtaken by a certain type of figurine, the Funko Pop. The large-headed action figures are in stores around the world and cover an awful lot of bases.
If there's a movie, game, or television show that you love then chances are there's a range of Funko Pops to go along with them. The Marvel Universe, Game Of Thrones, Sonic The Hedgehog, even Pokemon has joined in on the fun with their first-ever Pop hitting shelves soon, a Pikachu one of course. More will follow from Pokemon and another video game is about to join in on the fun.
That game is Fortnite, pretty much the only thing that is being talked about more right now than Funko Pops. Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, and Funko announced the collaboration on Wednesday via a press release that you can read in full at Nasdaq. "This collection will be a true celebration of Fortnite's incredible popularity and cultural significance," declared Brian Mariotti, the CEO of Funko.
Those of you familiar with Funko's products will know that it's not all about the Pop figurines that instantly come to mind. Fortnite will be represented via a number of different Funko products including 5 Star figures, Pint Size Heroes, and keychains. Don't rush out to your local Funko supplier just yet though. The Fortnite range won't be available in stores until the holiday season.
Now that we know Fortnite is coming to Funko, it's time to speculate which of the game's characters will be a part of the range. It's pretty likely that the Fortnite llama will make an appearance, as well as the stock characters that those without battle passes use to wage war in Battle Royale mode. Most characters tend to change from season to season though, so it'll be interesting to see which ones make the Funko cut.
