Epic is in the process of adding some spooky elements to Fortnite for its annual Halloween celebrations, including brand new Ghostbusters skins.

Fortnite has found success for a number of reasons during its first three years. However, what has brought it more fame and notoriety than anything else is its infiltration into the mainstream. Not just mainstream gaming, but media as a whole. Chances are most people you interact with each day will have at least heard of Fortnite. It's pretty much everywhere.

Crossover events have played a major part in that. Batman, Stranger Things, and even Michael Jordan have all appeared in Fortnite in some form or fashion. However, Fortnite's continued relationship with Marvel continues to generate the most traction. Season four has been entirely based around the comic book universe, and it has been so good that it's hard to see where the game goes from here.

Its annual Fortnitemares event will remind players how good Fortnite can be once Marvel's heroes have vacated the island. Epic is currently in the process of adding this week's update and dataminers are discovering how it will celebrate Halloween this year. So far, the reappearance of last season's villain Midas has been teased, and an exciting new crossover has reared its head.

According to Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, Ghostbuster skins have been added to Fortnite's files. No word yet on what they will look like, but chances are anyone who is a fan of the movies is going to want one. It's also probably not much of a stretch to assume that they will be accompanied by a particle accelerator back bling. Fingers crossed there will also be some special kind of LTM.

Skins from previous crossover events sticking around means Fortnite players can already pit characters from different franchises against each other. Or have they team up if you like. Speaking of which, if there is going to be an LTM in which players are tasked with fending off ghouls and monsters, it would be a huge missed opportunity to not have Ghostbuster-clad players stand side-by-side with those wearing Stranger Things skins.
