Fortnite might be getting its own Godzilla crossover event to take on PUBG, although it might be a little different.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters releases on May 31st in theatres everywhere. The latest iteration of Godzilla pits the famous radioactive monster against fellow titans Mothra, Rodan, and the dreaded King Ghidorah as they fight for global supremacy, with tiny humans struggling to survive.

And in keeping with a major movie release, PUBG Mobile and Fortnite seem to be getting their own tie-ins to the film. We found out about PUBG’s Godzilla event last week when paintings of Mothra, Ghidorah, and Godzilla started popping up in three locations across Miramar. Exploring each location would give you a silver coin that could be traded in for some Godzilla-themed cosmetic items.

Now it looks like Fortnite is getting its own event, but it might be a bit more involved that PUBG’s.

In May 22nd, Fortnite players began to notice that the Polar Peak glacier had been melting. Also, it started making weird “wind/sounds”, according to player HappyPower.

It’s widely believed that something is inside Polar Peak just waiting to bust out. Most likely we’re looking at King Ghidorah, who breaks out of an ancient glacier in the film to start wreaking havoc on the world. Humanity has to team up with Godzilla in order to take Ghidorah down and save the planet.

Adding a little bit to that theory is another Twitter user pointing out that there’s a giant eye and a heartbeat coming from Polar Peak too.

It’s even money whether this turns out to be Ghidorah, Godzilla, or even Rodan. They all basically make the same terrifying noises and have giant eyes. And would probably need an entire Fortnite map's worth of players in order to take them down. Hint hint.

We’ll probably find out for sure on May 31st. That’s when Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theatres nationwide.
