Fortnite has hit us with a number of crossover events so far in 2019, but a collaboration with Stephen King's It was something we did not expect.

So far, 2019 has been a jam-packed year for Fortnite so far. If we were to pick two positive things that have defined Fortnite this year, we would pick the hugely successful World Cup and its wealth of crossover events. We were extremely pleased to see Epic team up with Marvel again earlier this year in conjunction with Endgame's release, and other crossovers have followed off the back of it.

John Wick, Stranger Things, and Michael Jordan have all joined forces with Fortnite in 2019. In fact, the latest event is going on as we speak. The latest Fortnite update brought with it a whole bunch of elements from the Borderlands universe. The limited-time event will run until September 10, 2019, and three days later Borderlands 3 will be released.

If some unearthed files are anything to go by, Borderlands won't be the only crossover event we see on Fortnite Island this September. Fortnite Leaks & News has discovered elements that might suggest Pennywise is on his way to the game. We'd never have guessed Stephen King's It would be something Epic would want to be a part of Fortnite, but the evidence is definitely there.

The first piece of evidence comes in the form of something Fortnite's code refers to as a "creepy balloon." Whether you've seen or read It or not, chances are you know a solitary red balloon plays a big role in the story. On top of that, a sound file containing an extremely unnerving laugh has also been unearthed. You can listen to it below, but be warned, it is pretty unsettling.

Whether It is coming to Fortnite Island or not, all of the above would suggest that something scary will be arriving sooner rather than later. Considering the numerous crossover events that have already taken place and the fact that It: Chapter Two will be released on September 6, 2019, we don't think it's too much of a leap to make.

For now, just to be safe, stay away from storm drains because knowing Epic, when Pennywise arrives, we will have to discover him for ourselves.
