Fortnite Season 10, also referred to as Season X, launches today and has introduced the unexpected but predicted Titan-esque mechs. These awesome looking robots are called Brutes and they pack a serious punch; just like the Titans in Titanfall, which are noticeably absent from Apex Legends.

Since the launch of Apex Legends back in February, it has been locked in a battle with battle-royale juggernaut Fortnite, with the two titles taking notes from each other in a bid for supremacy. This latest Fortnite addition is just one in a list of new features seemingly influenced by Respawn’s surprise hit, following the implication of a ping system and reboot vans.

When Apex Legends first came out, one of the biggest questions players were asking was whether or not we'd be getting Titans. Since the title is set in the Titanfall universe, this didn’t seem like an impossible request. In fact, early leaks even suggested it was going to happen.

However, Respawn broke our hearts when it announced that it would absolutely not be bringing our favorite mechs into King’s Canyon. Cue Epic Games’ Fortnite, which has stepped into the breach and offered up its own version, the Brute.

You can see the Brute in action in the Season 10 trailer below. According to the patch notes, it’s a vehicle that can be operated by up to two players, with one controlling movement and the other in charge of weapons.

The Brute can dash, super jump, and stomp enemies and structures, which will grant harvestable materials when destroyed.

In terms of weaponry, the Brute has a Shotgun with a clip size of 10, damage of 50, and a headshot multiplier of 1.5x. It also has a missile launcher, which can fire up to 10 missiles at once. The Brute even comes equipped with a shield, which consumes 200 of any material to give you 5 seconds of shielded protection while in the mech.

The addition of mechs is just one of the features of the new season, which is focused on alternative dimensions and the distortion of time.

Fortnite Season 10 is now available to play for free.
