Season two of Fortnite's second chapter will be coming to an end on September 12 with the Operation: Sky Fire live event.

The Fortnite Twitter account announced the new event, saying, "The Mothership's sights are set on the IO's base. Slone has a plan to end the Invasion for good. Are you ready?"

Epic then confirmed on Twitter that the event will be an interactive one, similarly to other season-ending events like Galactus' invasion or the Zero Point collapse. When asked if players would be interacting with the event, Epic simply responded "yes!"

Not much else is known about the event currently, but an announcement for it on the Fortnite website says, "With the Mothership’s sights set on the Imagined Order’s secret base at Corny Complex, Slone has hatched a plan to end the Invasion once and for all. You’ve answered her calls, worked as an undercover agent for the IO - now it’s time to infiltrate The Last Reality and put a stop to the Alien’s occupation."

It also reveals that it will have players, "Join a strike team and sneak aboard the Mothership to deliver IO’s final message to the invading Aliens". The current time and date for Operation: Sky Fire is 4 PM ET on September 12. Its playlist will become available 30 minutes prior to its beginning. Epic also announced that players can join with a full lobby of 16 friends and tackle the mission as a squad.

Epic has warned players that they'll need to, "complete any remaining Epic Quests and exchange your Battle Stars for the rewards you desire before Operation: Sky Fire begins. Any remaining Alien Artifacts should similarly be collected and exchanged for your favourite Kymera styles and options". Following Operation: Sky Fire, a new season will begin and the current battle pass will be replaced.

One long-standing rumour is that season eight of Fortnite's second chapter will bring with it Naruto Uzumaki, the first official anime character to come to the game. Beyond that, it's not really known what might be coming up for Fortnite once Operation: Sky Fire comes to a close.
