Fortnite players are always outspoken when they don't like an addition to the game, which is why the Drum Shotgun has come under some heavy criticism this week.

Not only is Fortnite an incredibly popular game, but it is also one that has the gaming community divided. Like Marmite, everyone seems to either love it or hate. In fact, even some of those who love it also hate it. Professional players who have made thousands of dollars from playing the game are always quick to criticize Fortnite, even when Epic would hope they'd be the ones to come to its defense.

2019 has been pretty big when it comes to Fortnite being criticized. Epic has not been shy about making major changes that have proved unpopular with some of its more frequent players. Most notably, the removal of health and shield buffs for scoring an elimination. That one really didn't go down well.

The latest controversial change comes in the form of a new weapon, the Drum Shotgun. A shotgun version of the previously controversial Drum Gun, which also recently made a comeback to the island. What makes the Drum Shotgun different from Fortnite's other two shotguns is its ability to auto-fire. Hold down the fire button and you will quickly rip off a number of devastating shots.

If you haven't had the chance to use it, or have it used against you, you can check the Drum Shotgun out in action above. As you can see, it does not take long to make short work of the holder's opponent. On top of players' complaints that it is incredibly overpowered, apparently, it also emits a flash when used which effectively makes it impossible to fire back, even if you are quick on the trigger.

The power of the Drum Shotgun will undoubtedly have Fortnite players split once again. We argue that since the weapons are lying around the map for anyone and everyone to find, why not keep them as they are? Aside from the alleged flashing, of course. We can't imagine that will happen though, and fully expect the Drum Shotgun to be tweaked via an update some time soon.
