Many of us were told that we were wasting our time spending hours playing video games as kids. Fast forward 20 years and playing games can not only land you a number of different jobs, but being very good at certain ones can win you a lot of money. Fortnite, in particular, boasts a lot of money-spinning tournaments, one of which is ready and waiting right now.

Before you shrug this off thinking it's only for pro-Fortnite players, it's open to everybody. Well, everybody who plays Fortnite on PS4 or PS5 for this particular tournament. The PlayStation Cup is live right now, there's a $100,000 prize pool up for grabs, and anyone who has reached at least level 30 during season eight can enter.

The only other caveat is activating two-factor authentication, which doesn't take long if you haven't done it already. Once all of the above criteria have been met, you will be allowed to compete in the PlayStation Cup. Round one will be open for three hours today. The time that window opens and closes depends on where you live in the world, and you will be able to compete in ten matches during that window.

It is in those ten matches that you will be able to accumulate points. The scoring system is similar, if not identical to previous Fortnite cups. A point for an elimination, ascending points depending on how long you survive, and a whopping 30 points for a Victory Royale. All matches will be Solo, so no teaming up with someone better than you to try and increase your chances of winning a share of that prize pot.

If you finish in the top 100 in your region then you will progress to round two. That will obviously be a lot more intense and has a slightly different scoring system, but if you're one of the best 100 players in your region then you should be able to handle it. A full breakdown of how the prize money will be divvied up can be found on the PlayStation website.
