The world of Fortnite will look a lot more breathtaking thanks to the launch of ray tracing support. No longer will you have to go over to Minecraft to enjoy ray tracing, because now Fortnite enters the ring with lighting upgrades.

For those unaware, ray tracing allows for far better rendering of lighting and visuals that translates to images with much more depth. The changes can be subtle in some cases, but once you activate ray tracing, there is no going back to traditional rendering methods.

On NVIDIA's official website, developers announced that for PC players with an NVIDIA graphics card that supports ray tracing and DirectX12 can take full advantage of the new rendering features. With enhanced reflections, shadows, and lighting Fortnite feels like a whole new game. Unfortunately, console players may have to wait until next-gen consoles as current console hardware will not allow for ray tracing support.

While the visual upgrade is impressive, it does require some beefy hardware to pull off. Players will need, at minimum, an NVIDIA 2060, with updated drivers, alongside a CPU with four cores to avoid any performance issues. Once you have the proper drivers, simply head over to Fortnite's game settings and switch to the DirectX12 version. Once the game launches, there should be a ray tracing menu located in the game settings. You can configure reflections, ambient occlusion, global illumination, shadows, and enable ray tracing. NVIDIA graphics card owners are getting a lot of love recently.

A Visual Upgrade Without A Loss In Performance

Epic Games also introduced NVIDIA DLSS, which ensures better rendering without a massive loss in performance. With NVIDIA DLSS in Fornite, you have three options: quality, balanced, and performance. Each option will change the focus of the DLSS rendering resolution to help you find a balance between framerate and visual quality. On top of introducing DLSS, Fortnite will also support NVIDIA Reflex, which will deliver lower latency

Update your drivers and enjoy Fortnite like never before.
