Fortnite will soon be getting rideable flying animals according to numerous reports. The notorious leaker known as HypeX for example noting that “you will be able to boost and idle.” HypeX went on to say that “it's most likely what that ‘saddle,’ grappler-looking item is for,” referring to an item spotted in a recently released trailer.

The trailer showcasing the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 4 shows a bunch of Chrome spreading across the Island, covering everything in sight. The latest update to this wildly popular game is in effect all about heavy metal. The developer behind Fortnite, Epic, describes the content as mostly mineral, noting that “a mysterious substance has appeared on the Island. Chrome will consume all, Chrome will be all. Embrace the Chrome by turning structures into Chrome, making yourself Chrome, and proving the power of Chrome weapons.”

Epic has revealed that a new character, Grriz, will be released along with the next Battle Pass. The character in question is basically a small bear controlling a much bigger bear by means of a game controller. The details remain to be seen, but the overall impression is that Grriz will be taking to the skies.

The addition of Chrome to Fortnite will be resulting in some interesting changes to combat. Players can use Chrome Splash to become Blobbed, Epic pointing out that “while Blobbed, you'll move faster, be immune to fall damage, and gain the ability to air dash. Dash into any building piece to Chrome-ify it then phase through it!”

Certain parts of the Island are now elevated as well. Epic explains that “in their fear of Chrome, some Island locations are seeking ‘safety’ in the air, most notably Condo Canyon. Now called Cloudy Condos, attack from above in this expanding point of interest.” Players can make use of this with a sniper rifle, Epic noting how these have “had their damage and their headshot multipliers increased. Expert marksmen and trickshotters rejoice because now one shot could be all it takes to send someone back to the Lobby.”
