Fortnite hosting virtual concerts is nothing new. Fortnite hosting Ariana Grande for a virtual concert tour--now that's definitely an escalation of what Fortnite has been doing for a while now. Travis Scott is definitely a known name, but Ariana Grande is closing in on 90 million records sold. That’s bigger than anything Fortnite has hosted thus far.

But let's start with the facts. Epic has just announced the Rift Tour event, which will "take a musical journey into magical new realities where Fortnite and a record-breaking superstar collide." The event runs from August 6 to August 8 with five shows spread out at various times over those three days so people can take part in different time zones. There's a Rift Tour tab in Fortnite that lets you sign up for which concert time you prefer.

There's also a series of in-game quests that arrived today and unlock the first set of Rift Tour rewards. These include the Cosmic Cuddles loading screen (with art by Delicious Design League), the Rift-sterpiece spray, and the Cloudy Kitty emoticon.

Now let’s circle back to that “record-breaking superstar” that was mentioned. We don’t know for sure that it’s Ariana Grande, but a recent leak was right about The Suicide Squad getting a crossover in Fortnite, and the same leak also mentioned a collaboration with Ariana Grande. So if we had to put money on any particular artist appearing in Fortnite on Friday, August 6, it’s definitely Ariana.

Stay tuned to your social feeds for more on the Rift Tour event as Epic announces more goodies as we approach the concert’s start date.

In the meantime, you can expect to find The Suicide Squad’s Bloodsport appearing on The Island. That’s according to Idris Elba himself in a short video posted on Twitter from Suicide Squad director James Gunn. The Suicide Squad hits theatres at the same time as the Rift Tour event, so it’s going to be a double-whammy of collaborations for Fortnite at the beginning of August.
