A Redditor recently discovered that there's an entire galaxy on the other side of Fortnite's rifts, and it's pretty beautiful.

Fortnite has very quickly become the Marmite of the gaming world. People seem to either love it or hate it and there is no in between. Those who hate it do so for a number of different reasons. Reason number one is how much the game has been talked about for the past year and a half. Even though most of us here at The Gamer love Fortnite, we do understand that talk of it might be wearing thin on some people.

Another thing those who dislike Fortnite have picked up on is the game's lack of detail. This does not refer to gameplay, but rather the game's graphics. A lot of gamers prefer their games to be grittier and have more of a real feel to them, hence the popularity of the newer battle royale title, Apex Legends. To argue from Fortnite's corner, Epic is far too busy tweaking and adapting the gameplay to worry too much about the game's graphics.

Or is it? A discovery recently stumbled upon by Redditor Samatari22 would suggest otherwise. While in Replay Mode, the Redditor uncovered a vast and beautiful galaxy on the other side of Fortnite's rifts. You can take a look at the galaxy for yourself here and see that despite the effort that has clearly gone into it, players will only ever get to see it for a brief second in-game, if at all.

Before now, players probably didn't give much thought to what lay beyond Fortnite Island, and why would they? We have been led to believe that Fortnite's one map is the be all and end all. The revelation that there is an entire galaxy beyond the rifts had many players speculating. Has this been there since the introduction of the rifts? Or was it a detail that was added later via a patch?

If it's the latter, then chances are it means something and isn't just there purely for decoration. Again, it feels strange that Epic would include something as detailed as this when there was a very real chance that no one would ever see it at all.

There really is no way of knowing where the Fortnite storyline is going from season to season. Perhaps the view beyond the rifts is a hint toward what is coming next.
