Dataminers have discovered that something will be going down at Risky Reels to usher in 2020, but haven't been able to figure out exactly what that might be.

Fortnite Chapter 2 brought with it the most changes players have seen to the game in one go since its inception. However, many elements of the game's original island remained. Even some of the locations somehow made the leap. Landmarks such as Pleasant Park, Salty Springs, and Retail Row all survived the massive makeover that took place earlier this year.

Perhaps the most popular location to survive Fortnite's transformation was Risky Reels. The drive-in cinema is no longer named on the map, but it is definitely the same place as was first added to the island all the way back in Season 4. It might have been ignored thus far during Chapter 2, but not for much longer.

A couple of dataminers have discovered that Risky Reels could soon be at the center of Fortnite's next big event. Lucas7yoshi and HYPEX shared the information they discovered in Fortnite's files on Twitter. Most of it is pretty mundane, such as cars being moved and construction trucks being added, plus it seems as if the movie screen itself will also be altered in some way. There has been another bigger discovery, though.

The screen in Risky Reels will play a movie of some sort. It'll be two minutes long and come to an end as 2019 ticks over into 2020 on New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, the aforementioned dataminers could not find out what will be shown on the screen. It's probably safe to assume it will be some sort of New Year countdown but that won't stop people from speculating between now and December 31, 2019.

Although Risky Reels' screen is often blank, there have been occasions when movies and images have been shown on it. The moment that springs to mind is when a very short clip of Wreck-It Ralph would appear very briefly on the screen to promote the release of Ralph Breaks The Internet. Maybe Risky Reels' next screening will also be linked to some sort of crossover event.
