Fortnite very briefly allowed players to purchase a dance emote that hasn't appeared in-game in several years. The emote, called "Tidy," is based on Snoop Dogg's dance moves from his 2004 hit song "Drop It Like It's Hot." The emote was briefly available in a section called "Vaulted A Year Or More" on the Fortnite store but has since been removed.According to Eurogamer, the Tidy emote was available for just a few hours before Epic killed the entire Vaulted A Year Or More section. It also appeared alongside the hippie-themed Flower Power set, perhaps hinting at an overall ganja theme.Epic didn't provide any explanation for removing both the Tidy emote as well as the Flower Power cosmetics set. "We're aware the 'Vaulted a Year or More' section was briefly present in and is now missing from tonight's Item Shop," wrote Epic on the official Fortnite Status Twitter account. "We'll continue to offer different versions of this section in the future."
We can only speculate at why the older emote and cosmetics were removed, but it appears that Epic might not want to have Fortnite associated with weed or marijuana culture. Additionally, Epic could have some lingering concerns regarding the Tidy dance emote, which first appeared in April 2018. That was just a few months before Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro sued Epic Games over the uncredited use of the Carlton dance. Since then, Epic has come under fire from other dance creators for the unauthorized use of dance moves such as Fortnite emotes, although such lawsuits have had little success.
Epic has taken to licensing music for Fortnite and now properly credits the origins of its emotes. Those that purchased the Tidy emote in the few hours it was available will likely retain access to the emote as Epic has rarely pulled emotes from player accounts once purchased.
