Epic Games dropped a surprise update for Fortnite today featuring new some tweaks to both Save the World and Battle Royale, plus the addition of a new emote and Super Bowl NFL skins.

There has not been much public mention of the fixes or the new content yet from Epic Games, but some data miners were able to locate the information on the Fortnite Trello Board. These changes come during a period of outcry from streamers and players for a large update to be made to the game. Epic usually updates the game often, but the only leak about the upcoming season 2 has been partially redacted as a tease to fans of the game.

Today's secret patch was publicized on Twitter by ShiinaBR.

The in game footage showed only the skins and the new emote, "Freemix", but the other changes are as follows:

  • Ziplines re-enabled
  • Fix for unintentional edits through the floor
  • Fix for editing structures while looking straight down
  • Fix for no sound on PC
  • Fix for Quick Bar defaulting on all platforms
  • Fix for Overtime “visit different bus stop” challenge
  • Fix for Star Wars Legacy error bug
  • Fix for “F” key not working correctly on PC
  • Fix for bug affecting quick edits
  • Fix for sniper rifle reticle bug while in a Hideout

Players are desperate for more leaks or hints as to what else is coming in the game, but not much is expected from the unusually quiet Epic Games. The only Chapter 2 Season 2 information that has been leaked was a hinted map change, but it also came from ShiinaBR and not directly from Epic. There has also been hints at a game engine switch, which could completely change the way Fortnite plays and feels.

Although there is not much difference from the regular 49ers skin to the Super Bowl 49ers skin, it is no doubt that the developer's partnership with the NFL has been a fruitful one. Fans will have to wait and see what comes next, whether it is more football content to hold them over or another leak towards the next season, confirmed for February 20th.

Either way, let's hope it's enough to keep players from losing their passion for the game.
