Fortnite's Winter Royale might still be a week and a half away, but fans have already gotten to see two heavyweights go at it during the build-up.

With all the hype surrounding the launch of Chapter 2 and now its affiliation with Star Wars, it feels like a long time since we got to see some real competitive Fortnite action. In all fairness, Epic went all out with the Fortnite World Cup earlier this year. Between the qualifying weekends and the tournament itself, there was a lot of Fortnite to watch and play for fans of the game.

Seems as if enough time has passed since the World Cup for Fortnite to stage its next big competition. The Winter Royale during which $15 million will be available in prize money across three days. The Royale will start on December 20 and run through to December 22, giving Fortnite players the chance to win themselves a nice little Christmas present.

Competitive Duos have returned to the game in preparation for the Winter Royale, and arch-rivals Tfue and Ninja have already been putting the hours in. So many hours, in fact, that the two of them crossed paths this week. Ninja was competing alongside his trusty Duos partner Reverse2K while Tfue was busy trying out different teammates in an attempt to find a new Duos buddy, reports ESTNN.

Despite Tfue teaming with someone he has little experience with, in this case A1 Scoped, it was his Duo that won this round over Team Ninja. Tfue and Scoped managed to gain the upper ground on their opponents, which resulted in Ninja and Reverse2K boxing themselves in. From there, it was only a matter of time before Team Tfue managed to eliminate their opponents.

It wasn't until after the fact that Scoped realized he had eliminated Reverse2K while Tfue finished off Ninja. The eliminated Duo didn't react too well to being picked off by a mortal enemy and his new buddy. Ninja ended his stream shortly after, revealing that he probably won't be free to practice for the next five days. That'll leave him just five days after that to cram in time for the Winter Royale proper.
