Epic Games has revealed that The Floor Is Lava Limited Time Mode is coming to Fortnite this week, and here is everything we know about it so far.

As the seventh season of Fortnite became the eighth, we witnessed some of the biggest changes to the game's map to date. Most notably, the arrival of a massive, active volcano in the northeast corner. Magma constantly spills out of the volcano which means if you want to explore the area around it, you had better be prepared to get burned.

Now never fear, as you likely know by now, contact with the red hot magma will not eliminate you upon impact. You will merely bounce along the surface as increments of your health are lost every time you make contact. It is also extremely difficult to navigate the direction in which you travel while bouncing along the surface of the molten river, especially if you fall in unexpectedly.

For those of you who have got navigating Fortnite's lava down to a fine art, we have some good news. As revealed by Fortnite's developer Epic, a Limited Time Mode dubbed The Floor Is Lava is coming to the game later this week. We currently know very little about what the LTM will entail exactly, but the picture to go along with the announcement really does seem to speak a thousand words.

While the active volcano is nowhere near Tilted Towers, that's where two players are pictured in the snap above. Standing back to back and likely wondering what to do next. That means one of two things. Either lava will have engulfed the island before anyone has even landed, or perhaps it will gradually seep throughout the map and rise as the round goes on. Maybe it will even replace the storm for the purposes of this LTM.

One of our favorite games as children was The Floor Is Lava. That's why being able to relive our childhood on Fortnite Island is good news in our books. Of all the updates that have come so far during season eight, this is our favorite by far. Plus, what we hope for above all else is that the lava will prevent other players from building so much. That way, our opponents won't magically turn into a six story building when they hear so much as a twig snap.
